 | It's Saturday morning and I'm up at 5:00 am, which in itself is a wonder after a three and half hour board meeting last night. After the board meeting, I took a trip to Azul (the hotel's chic bar) to renew old friendships and say hello to the NADCA members.
At 7:00 am, I'm at the registration booth and the ever-vigilant staff is already on hand signing in attendees and making sure everybody is ready for a day of learning. After a great continental breakfast and some coffee, it's time to start the pre-conference learning sessions. ASCS is full with 39 attendees ready to be taught by Steve Willis. Doug Groen and Patrick O'Donnell also have classes that are full and attentive. After giving a brief welcome to the ASCS class, I'm off to the International Forum.
Upon arrival, I'm greeted by NADCA Executive Director John Schulte, Pierre Laurin (our newest Board member) and a very international group representing Canada, China, Japan, Italy, the Middle East and Malaysia, as well as Scandinavia. What follows is an uplifting, informative, and spirited discussion of where NADCA and all of its affiliates have been during the past year.
For example, our colleagues from Japan are very excited about the work between JADCA and the governmental authorities of their country. Giorgio Ziragachi (of AIISA in Italy) brought us up to speed on the phenomenal growth that has occurred in the year since our last meeting. Everybody had a chance to discuss the various problems

 | this tulmultuous global economy has posed for all of us. We all came away with a sense that the work we all do to promote HVAC Inspection, Maintenance, and Restoration and our industry is really making a difference in the lives of our constituent consumers.
Tonight is the opening reception in the Pavilion and then the President's Reception. If the way I have been treated since my arrival is a preview of things to come, then all will go well. The staff and management at the Westin La Paloma are top notch and have gone out of their way to make this a fabulous Annual Meeting.
For those of you unable to attend, this could be the very best meeting ever, except that we won't see you here. We miss you. Stay tuned for daily updates and information ... and start planning now for next year in Vegas!
