YMCA's Commitment to America

America's YMCAs commit to extend our charitable heritage by directly engaging 25 million children and adults from all segments of our communities in achieving health of spirit, mind and body by 2012.

Every child and youth will deepen positive values, their commitment to service and their motivation to learn.

Every family will build stronger bonds, achieve greater work/life balance and become more engaged with their communities.

Every individual will strengthen their spiritual, mental and physical well-being.

Summer Camp
What began 125 years ago as one small group of YMCA campers seeking to grow closer in the solace of nature and work together as a team has blossomed into a summer phenomenon that has changed the lives of millions of youth around the world. This year, the YMCA celebrates the 125th anniversary of camping at the YMCA, and the YMCA of the Palms will join hundreds of the nation's YMCA camps in recognizing this milestone.

YMCA Summer Camp provides a safe and structured environment for children who have completed kindergarten through age 15 to learn, grow and have fun all summer long. Through character-building activities and interaction with positive role models, YMCA Summer Camp reinforces the attributes that help our youth become strong, responsible, caring and successful adults.

Swim Lessons
Summertime means water time for many families. Millions of people will venture to their favorite spots to swim, play and create lasting memories. The most important part of these excursions is safety. Whether it's the pool, beach, or water park, remember that when in or around the water, it's safety first.

The Y's advice to all adults and children is to learn how to swim. It's never too late. The YMCA of the Palms is committed to teaching everyone this lifelong, healthy skill, and financial assistance is available to ensure that no one is turned away for an inability to pay.

The YMCA offers a variety of aquatics programs for children and families, including swim lessons.  We have lessons to fit every age and skill level. Parent-Child classes start at 6 months old and small group lessons are offered for children 3 - 12 years old. For more details about the YMCA's swim lesson programs, please click on either of the links below:

YMCA Project Graduation

YMCA Project Graduation is celebrating its 25th anniversary and has grown to attract more than 1,200 graduates from twelve Collier County high schools.  The 2010 event will be held at the Greater Naples YMCA on Friday, June 4, from 11p.m. - 4a.m.  YMCA Project Graduation is one of the nation's longest running, drug and alcohol-free celebrations.  Graduation night can be a deadly and dangerous night in some cities, however, since Project Graduation's inception in 1985; there has never been an alcohol related fatality on graduation night in Collier County.

Strong Kids Campaign Update

In 2009, the YMCA expanded our services to reach more than 25,000 to help them grow in spirit, mind, and body thanks to more than $2.2 million in free, subsidized, or sponsored programs.  A major portion of the funding to provide this programming comes from our annual Strong Kids Campaign.  In the past few months, we have been reaching out to businesses and individuals that believe in the work we are doing and have showed that in a tangible gift to the Strong Kids Campaign. It is not too late to get involved. If you have not given yet to the campaign, you may click this link and give today online. Spirit-Mind-Body: Salt and Hypertension

Limiting your salt intake is one of the best things you can do to lower your blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure affects 1 in 3 Americans-more than 65 million people-according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health and the Blood Institute, who advocate specific dietary recommendations for people with hypertension. DASH-Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension-follows heart-healthy guidelines to limit saturated fat and cholesterol and emphasizes foods rich in nutrients, particularly minerals like potassium, calcium and magnesium, as well as protein and fiber.
