Greetings! |
The beginning of the school year is my favorite time of year at Concordia! The excitement that envelops campus is contagious, as friends reunite after the too-short summer, sport teams begin practice, and freshmen and transfers wander the halls trying to find their way. What I truly love about Concordia is how friendly and welcoming everyone is and how willing they are to help anyone who needs it, whether by carrying a couch up three flights of stairs, giving directions, or simply sharing a smile. This is the embodiment of the spirit of "Concordia", which means harmony, or literally, with one heart! I am thrilled that the beginning of this year brings me to the Advancement Department and my new role as Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. I am a two-time Concordia University Wisconsin graduate, with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management and a Master of Business Administration in Finance. I have been working at the University since 2007, first serving as a graduate assistant in the MBA Office and then as Academic Advisor for the School of Business and Legal Studies. In my eighth year at Concordia, I look forward to facilitating alumni and parent events and maintaining regular communication with you about exciting news and events from our campus. Returning parents, I hope move-in was smooth and you had to move less than you did last year! New parents, I hope you felt welcomed, had all of your questions answered, and are dealing with the challenging transition of having a child move out of the house for the first time. We want you all to feel a part of Concordia, and this E-newsletter is just one way for you to stay connected to your student and to CUW. Please also utilize the resources that we have available on the website for you on our Parent Resources page. If I did not meet you this past weekend, I look forward to seeing you at one of the upcoming events on campus.
Blessings,

Record Enrollments |
What a wonderful time to be a part of the Concordia family! As things settle into routine on campus, we are anxiously awaiting word on final enrollment numbers. As it currently stands, we are at 714 new students and are on track for yet another year of record enrollment. While this number could still change slightly, it shows a solid increase of 75 students over last year.
Not only are we growing in size, but we are growing in building and programming needs as well. The new Concordia Center for Environmental Stewardship building, eight classroom Loeber Hall addition and President's Courtyard are officially open, construction on the Pharmacy School is underway, and the first 71 students have begun classes in the new Pharmacy program.
With all of the additions and renovations occurring, there are two things that I can promise you. One, that there will be many more changes to campus during your time with us and two, the personal, family feeling that CUW is known for will stay the same! |
Thrivent Choice |
If you are a Thrivent member, the new Thrivent Choice program may seem complicated, but giving to Concordia has never been easier! Thrivent members are given a certain number of dollars, based on individual participation with Thrivent, to distribute to qualified organizations of your choice. You can designate your dollars by going online or calling by phone. To give online, go to www.thrivent.com/thriventchoice and select 'Get Started'. To give by phone call 800-Thrivent (800-847-4836) and say 'Thrivent Choice'. If you choose to give to Concordia, we are listed as Concordia University Wisconsin Foundation, Inc. Please refer to your Thrivent letter for further information on the Thrivent Choice program or contact Melissa Novotny at Melissa.Novotny@cuw.edu or 262-243-4423 to further designate your Thrivent Choice dollars to Concordia. |

Greetings from Concordia! The beginning of Concordia's 130th academic year is here. As usual the summer has flown by, especially for your family as you have been assisting your son and/or daughter in their preparations of coming to campus. I am pleased that Concordia University Wisconsin has added Nicole Tilot as Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. I have known Nicole for a few years and she is a wonderful servant of God. I believe you will enjoy getting to know Nicole. I am excited about the ideas and gifts that Nicole brings to the Advancement Department. My new role will afford more opportunities to visit with alumni, parents, and friends who do not have opportunities to visit Mequon. I thank God and you for the opportunities I have had during the last nine years to serve as the Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. When there are events on campus I will continue to attend the events, which is something I have always enjoyed. Blessings to you and your family, and I will let you know if I am going to be in your neighborhood! Yours in Christ, Diana S. Raasch
