Greetings from Picture Perfect Pets!

Bette & Toffee
I have to apologize for being a Newsletter Delinquent over the past months!  They've been very busy ones, busier than a usual summer.  However, with the arrival of Fall, there's so much news to share that a newsletter simply had to climb to the top of my "To Do" list!

In this issue, read about Arlington Town Day, Ellie the Golden Retriever's good news and an update about Pawstonian, as well as our regular features.

We are always interested in hearing your latest news, too!  Stay in touch!  In fact, we welcome submissions for upcoming issues of our new feature, "Training Triumphs."  Contact us to learn how to share your dog's story in an upcoming newsletter.

As always, if you'd prefer not to receive the Picture Perfect Pets email newsletter in future, you can remove your email address from this mailing list using the "SafeUnsubscribe" link in the footer of this email.

 Town Day 2008
Join the Fun!

You're invited to come kick off a fantastic autumn season with Picture Perfect Pets among a myriad of Arlingtonians at Arlington Town Day 2008 this Friday and Saturday, September 19th and 20th. Would it be silly of me to say that Town Day is one of my favorite holidays? Well, aside from New Year's Day, I think it very well might be.
Congratulations to Ellie!
An email from Jean:

Hi Bette,

I'm writing to you with great news. We are excited because she just passed her Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test last night.

Continuing  Education for Your Canine

With the arrival of Fall, it's "Back to School for Doggies, Too!"

If you have completed your Level 1 course (Puppy Perfect, Toy & Small Dogs or DoggyRight), you can continue on to Level 2, now an eight week program, and Level 2 is now available at Pawstonian in South Boston as well as Picture Perfect Pets in Arlington.

If you are not yet ready to join Level 2, you may be interested in joining the Picture Perfect Pets Alumni Club (join the PAC!)  Our "PAC Class" drop in dog training program is now in full swing.  See the update schedule to the right of this article.  Click here for full details, including PAC FAQs.

If you or any dog lovers in your life will be adding a human family member to the pack, have a look at our Dogs & Storks consultations:  "Preparing Families with Dogs for Life with Baby."  This is a national program with presenters in many areas.

NOW OPEN!

Pawstonian b and w logoI'm excited to announce that Pawstonian in South Boston is now officially open! Those of you who have been in classes for much of this year have heard me talking about this great new place that was coming soon. Well, now it's here, and it's just as fantastic as I expected it would be.

So, what is Pawstonian? It is Yee Wan's coterie pet boutique, lounge and dog daycare all under one roof. Pawstonian also has a couple of self-service dog wash stations for clientele, and offers training and photography by yours truly, Bette Yip. I have heard a rumor that Pet Massage and Reiki by Lisa Ruthig of Lively Dog will also be offered through Pawstonian, but I hate to misinform the public, so consider this just a little tease until I have more reliable information to share.

Meet Hugo, Flat Coated Retriever

by Megina with dog training summary by Bette Yip

We adopted Hugo, an eight-month-old flat-coated retriever, from a rescue group down in Tennessee in November, after he had been abused, neglected, and surrendered by his owners to the Memphis shelter. We hoped he would be a good companion for our one-year-old golden/lab mix Zoe. Having adopted Zoe as a young puppy and taking her through Levels 1 and 2 at Picture Perfect Pets, we felt that we had the training skills we would need to go through the process with Hugo.

But our first two months with Hugo presented challenge after challenge...
Lively Dog
Pet Massage & Reiki with PAC Member, Lisa Ruthig

Picture Perfect Pets is excited to introduce the services of one of our own graduates and PAC members, Lisa Ruthig.

Toffee, Bette Yip's borzoi, can highly recommend Lisa's pet massage and reiki firsthand.  After sessions, Toffee is bouncier and more playful than she's been for years.  The sessions seem to ease the pain of her aching knees, in particular.

It may sound crazy to announce this in September, but the holiday photography season will be here soon!

In an effort to be more efficient with my photography services this year, expand my availability to serve more families and still be able to offer a bargain, I've decided to set aside chunks of time on select Saturdays (and possibly some of the preceding Friday evenings depending on demand) from October through early December which will be dedicated only to "in studio" pet and family portrait photography at Picture Perfect Pets in Arlington and at Pawstonian in South Boston.

Thank you for taking time to read this edition of the Picture Perfect Pets newsletter.  We hope to see you again soon!
