It's That Time Again, A G A I N !! Toad Hill Cobra Run
Why: Really, we all miss it. The original running was canceled because of a tornado that touched down in Madison County the evening prior. There were two deaths; 250 homes, numerous barns and outbuildings were destroyed. Some of the roads in our route have not yet recovered. We will avoid those areas on the cruise.
When: 9AM till 4PM on 29 August 2009
Where: Toad Hill Farm, 1532 Curtis Pike, Richmond, Kentucky
Take Exit 87 on I-75, go West for 1.6 miles to Curtis Pike on the left, then go 1.6 miles south on Curtis Pike to the gate on right. The number is on the paper box. There is a tall gate and an asphalt drive disappearing up the hill on the right. There is a gravel drive just 50 feet prior to our drive. Both disappear out of sight. Follow the asphalt drive. There is plenty of parking.
What: We will congregate at the farm at 9AM or so. Those wanting to take the Double Yellow Devil cruise route will attend the driver's meeting. Others, not thrilled by the "twistys," are free to stay at the farm to visit or help set out food. Lunch will be available after the cruise. Bring a bag chair to ensure you have a seat. We have quite a few, but some spares are always appreciated. Plan to linger a while, that is what seems to happen. If you want to contribute a side dish or a bag of chips or something, then bring that along. Nothing is expected or required. Just come, relax, smile and enjoy the Kentucky byways and the friendly folks.
Phone: Call Vince at 859.625.8772 with questions or if you miss the turn. If you get to Wilgreen Lake Road turn-off on Curtis Pike, retrace your path for 1/4 mile and make the left through the gate.
Rain: If you are unsure as to whether the event is on, then call our number at 859.623.1899 and the recording will tell you whether we are a go or a no-go. If you need to reach me then call the number above.
RSVP: If you have never been to Toad Hill before, please email Vince at vlubbers@earthlink.net or call the 859.623.1899and let us know to plan for you. If you are from outside the area and need a hotel recommendation, then call me. If you have been before, we hope to see you and will keep the light on.For those of you that missed the Bowling Green Cruise last Saturday you will not want to miss this one. This is perhaps one of the bright lights of our Cruising Season for 2009.
