2009 Envents
It's The Light!
by Vince Lubbers, Toad Hill, KY

Allegorically and physically we fought our way north into the teeth of a mid-winter storm.  Tense hands gripping the wheel tightly.  Far tighter than your driving instructor counseled.  Coffee cold in the container and we are too nervous to care.  Saturday evening, darkness falling fast, press on.

Kickoff 2009

Suddenly---It's the Light.  The light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.  The one you hear about but never actually see.  Downshifting into Georgetown on a night that would make a lobsterman shiver---We saw it.  The co-pilot first, there, to the right, bring her around a touch.  Dead on.  The sign said Golden Corral in large red letters, the sigh in the vehicle said 'safe harbor.'

Go inside and shake off the wet.  Hello, nice to see you.  Oh yeah, London, how have you been?  Smiles all around.  Thirty odd smiles, old and new.  It's warm inside and the Mid-Winter Rendezvous for the Kentucky Cobra Club is underway.  These people bundled up on a dark day of winter to make a difference they could feel and be a part of a celebration of people.  They Are The Light!

Kickoff 2009

We stoked the furnaces for the return with food, spent some time catching up on the past two months and got an early glimpse of the events we expect in 2009.  Club favorites are on the list and a number of completely new and exciting events in North Carolina, Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio.  Details will emerge in the next month or two.  And as they do, they will encourage the individuals to be a part of the new year.  A good year that will celebrate the people who come together around the Cobra marque.

This will be a year of change for our country; new politics, new views, new challenges and new hope.  The Kentucky Cobra Club moves into 2009, blessed with wonderful members and a stack of wonderful experiences which grows by the year.
Join us, it is going to be a memorable year.
