The 'Why'? Question

De-Motivated

Even when things aren't always this bad, it can sometimes be difficult to stay motivated at work.  So what steps can you take to help you feel motivated again?

The real key to motivation is to ask the 'why'? question.  Why am I doing this task?  Why am I going to this meeting?  When you can identify the real purpose for anything you're doing, it makes things clearer.

Just taking a few minutes to think or even write out your primary reason for doing a particular task, the 'how' becomes easier and with that, you will feel your levels of motivation grow and invariably, you will start to feel an increased sharpness of vision and focus.
10 Top Tips for Getting Motivated
1.  Prioritise your 'to do' list.  (Urgent v Important)
2.  Review what you have achieved each day.
3.  Allow yourself a personal reward for successes.
4.  Break down large projects into mini goals so you can feel a sense of accomplishment every time you meet one.
5.  Keep a success file and record all your achievements.
6.  Don't procrastinate.  Use the 5/15 rule.  Deal with 5 small tasks or spend 15 minutes on one larger task.
7.  Ensure that your self-talk is positive.  (I can, I will)
8.  Celebrate any improvements.  Don't wait to get perfect.
9.  Develop a mental picture of yourself achieving what you aspire to: give everything your total focus.
10. Enthusiasm is contagious.  Make an effort to surround yourself with other motivated people.  Pot fillers not pot drillers!
Finally ...
Be forgiving with yourself.  You will get days when you feel less motivated than other days.  Keep things in perspective, work is just that and only forms a part of your life.

Ability is what you're capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.
