President's Message
Open House was a smashing success! I was so filled with pride and
pleasure as I saw what our students have accomplished and worked on. Thank
you to our Hospitality team led by Debbie Warren and Terry Chaparro,
who along with countless volunteers provided us with delightful
refreshments to kick off the evening. Thank you one and all!

I am currently working on the annual Follow Up Study for our
senior class. The Study will be
available during finals week. Seniors are adding their leaves to our "Branching
Out" tree in the C&CC to share their plans. This fall we introduced a new
program, Naviance, to help our current seniors through the college application
process. Now our juniors and sophomores have also created their Navianceaccounts. Through Naviance Family
Connection, students can build a college list, connect to colleges they are
interested in, write a resume, request letters of recommendation, search for
scholarships, and sign up for college rep visits. I would like to encourage students, especially juniors, to
become familiar with the program over the summer. Students who have not logged
in or have forgotten their user name/password can see me in the C&CC. The
link is listed below: http://connection.naviance.com/acalanesRegister for SATs online at www.collegeboard.com or for ACT at www.actstudent.org

Acalanes Chamber Singers Shine at Golden State Choir Competition
On Tuesday, May 18, the Acalanes Chamber Singers competed in the 2010 Northern California Golden State Choral Competition. They were one of nine choirs selected to compete in the Small Choir Division (32 singers or less). They place second with a score of 1145 out of 1200 points and were only 15 points (!) behind the first place choir from San Ramon Valley High School. This is Acalanes' highest finish at Golden State in the last 20 years. Congratulations to the singers, the administration, and all of the parents who have made music a priority in the district and at our school. I am so proud of these singers for their commitment and hard work. We have achieved a new level of performance and artistry. Bravi Tutti! Bruce Lengacher
