September 2012

Hello Evanston CASE members,

I hope your children have had a smooth transition back to school.  Unfortunately, parents have been calling us with a familiar complaint that staff are not ready to "hit the ground running" with their children.  They haven't read IEP's, the aides weren't hired yet, etc.  If you are having difficulty, please call or email us.  We can help.

In this month's newsletter you will find information about our Parent Connections program for the 2012-13 school year.  We have a new location and are looking forward to increased attendance this year.

If you didn't have a chance to fill our our survey last month, you can still do so.  The feedback we have already received has been very helpful.  We will share the data with you in next month's newsletter.

Finally, I want to thank those of you who gave us a donation to help cover our operating expenses this year.  We still don't have enough to break even this year, so if you intended to donate and haven't gotten around to it, it's never too late.

Warm regards,

Cari Levin, LCSW

Short Documentary on Generalized Anxiety Disorder

NBA Player Royce White Talks Anxiety Disorders on Draft Day

Watch this 9 minutes documentary on YouTube that tells the story of Royce White's struggle with generalized anxiety disorder as he waits for news about his fate in the NBA Draft.  This is an excellent video to share with teens.  It reinforces that mental illness should never prevent kids from pursuing their goals and dreams.  To watch, click HERE
