Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Leon County Clerk News. I am hopeful that you are enjoying these newsletters and, more importantly, that we are including information of value to you. Future issues of the newsletter will be sent out as we have information we need to convey. That may not happen every month. We want to make the newsletter relevant and pertinent and not take up your time with meaningless articles. If there are issues you would like for us cover, please let us know.
It is my pleasure to serve you. I look forward to hearing your feedback not only on your experience with efiling but on any issues concerning the Leon County Clerk of Courts office.

One Last Live Training Session on April 19
The last of our three live efiling training sessions is scheduled for April 19 in Commission Chambers from 3 to 5 p.m. Participants at the last training session in March were very engaged and had many good questions answered. We encourage you to make plans to attend this last session as we believe you will find it very helpful. The link to register for the live training session is located above in the Quick Links section. If your schedule doesn't allow for you to attend, please visit our website for a recorded demo of how the portal works.
Gypsy Bailey, Esq., Courts Department Director, will take you through the steps of efiling, including the initial registration at the statewide portal. If you haven't already, you'll want to take a look at the user manuals we have posted to our website as Ms. Bailey will be going over them at the training. These manuals provide e-filing instructions that apply to all civil case types and include screen shots from the portal and specific instructions on how to complete each stage of filing. There is also a link from our website to the portal, posted there for your convenience. |

Frequently Asked Questions
- How does my electronically filed document remain confidential? You choose the document, and behind the scenes, a docket code is selected. That docket code comes to us locally, and programming in place locally recognizes that docket code as one that needs to be treated confidentially. That programming will display the image via the secure judicial website only to those that have legal authority to view the document.
- Do I still file a civil cover sheet? Yes, that shows as a required filing on the documents tab at the top in a red sentence, on all case types in which such a sheet is required.
- What do I do if I have exhibits to file? Ideally, you should file them as an "attachment" to your motion, notice, etc. If your pleading is a Word document, and you convert it to a pdf, then your scanned, pdf exhibits can be merged with the pleading to make for one document. If you cannot do that or prefer not to, you can file the exhibits separately, but they will need a cover sheet noting the complete case style.
- Can I file electronically if I have to submit originals? Original documents, such as death certificates, or those that contain original signatures such as affidavits, deeds, mortgages and wills must be filed manually until further standards have been adopted.
- Can you add multiple email addresses for confirmation of filing? Yes; you can add up to two alternate emails, three total.
