Texas Update!
Article Subtitle
Texas and Trip
Texas with big brother Trip. "Is it time for Aiken yet??"

Simply put, Texas is not a fan of the cold weather.  For being so young, she's been quite tolerant of all the time spent in the indoor arena.  I try to keep things interesting for her, and luckily the weather has been mild enough that we're still able to get outside at least once a week.

Texas's jumping has just been getting better and better with each passing week.  We recently introduced corners to her, and she 'got it' almost right away.  This mare is going to give Trip a run for his money this spring.

The more this mare does, the more I believe she's the real deal.  If you're interested in joining in on a syndicate, let me know.  I'm going to keep things pretty affordable for this first year. So get involved now and save!

Greetings!

If you're a facebook fan you know that I just got home from a long overdue vacation to Hawaii.  I can't believe it, but it's been almost 3 years since I've taken a proper vacation!  As much as I enjoyed my time off, it's nice to be back home with the horses (even if the single-digit temps were a bit of a shock!).

Thanks to my wonderful support crew, I came home to a barn full of happy and healthy horses, ready to go to work.  We'll be leaving in less than 2 weeks to head south to Aiken for the Paradise Farm Horse Trials.  A month later we'll head back to Aiken for the Full Gallop Farm Horse Trials.  We still have room for more people and horses on this trip, so check your calendars and let me know if you'd like to come.  We'd love to have you!

Trip is ready to get back into the show ring!

We're getting closer to our departure date for Paradise Farm Horse Trials (February 18-20).  Both Texas and Trip will be making the trip, competing in the Novice and Preliminary divisions, respectively.  While there I'll be teaching a clinic to a local pony club, which I'm really looking forward to.

Our second Aiken trip will be for the Full Gallop Farm Horse Trials on March 12-13.  If all goes well during the first Aiken adventure, Texas and Trip will each move up a level, competing at Training and Intermediate (Trip's first Intermediate!).  We already have a good group of people traveling with us, but there's room for more people and horses if you'd like to escape the snow for some fun in the Aiken sand.

For those that have never been to Aiken before, it's heaven for the event rider.  There are events every weekend, schooling shows during the week, and cross-country schooling venues around every corner!  Plus, the footing is unbelievable. We'll plan on leaving the Tuesday or Wednesday before Full Gallop and return the Monday after.  This is your perfect winter vacation!

So if I haven't convinced you to come yet ... give me a call or shoot me an e-mail!  I'll tell you everything you need to know to make you want to come!

Meet Rebecca!
Rebecca Golian
Rebecca and Morcheeba at Morven Park

If you've been to the farm recently, you've probably met Rebecca Golian.  Rebecca, a long-time student, recently graduated from the University of Maryland and has decided to pursue horses full-time.  I've invited her to join the Rock Solid Training team, and she's taken on the roll of Assistant Trainer.  When not at RST, Rebecca can be found at area barns teaching and training her own group of clients.  She's one of the reasons why I was able to go on vacation and not worry about the horses at home!

Rebecca has experience through Intermediate, and she aspires to ride at the top level both nationally and internationally.  She recently purchased a lovely young mare from RST friend Matt Flynn, named Just A Flirt.  We're excited to see how she progresses this season, but all signs are pointing towards her being a winner.

We're thrilled to have Rebecca at the farm!
