You rock. Seriously, you do.

The pure fact that you take the time out of your day to educate yourself in cutting edge wellness says a lot about who you are and where you are going!

Speaking of where you are going, how did the new years resolutions work out? If you did set goals and are in the process of achieving them, congrats! Unfortunately, for 92% of the rest of America, by the time you read this, they've already long forgotten. Did you ever start the food log, get the uber gym membership or quit smoking? Is the resistance band set from Target still in your closet and the Nautilus gym in your garage being used as a doggie bed?

Breathe easy. It's okay, you are not alone, as most new years resolutions are pretty much designed to fail. But wait, before you feel the monotony of NYE goals past and broken promises to yourself, let me help you!

In regards to future resolutions, chew on this- When in your life has waiting for better health ever worked? The heart of making decisions to change behaviors, or a so-called resolution is simply just a stage to cultivate our motivation and purpose as to why we really care in the first place.

When it comes to resolutions of any kind, the best time to start is right now, slow and steady. Subconsciously, most roadblocks to goals are manifested by ourselves. The work vs. reward ratio has been drastically skewed from the past 100 years of mainstream society's teachings; Instant gratification has been burned into our psyche since before we knew how to dance.

We are 3 weeks into January and already the commerce of fast foods products are thru the roof. The early January sales of Entamins, Hostess and Pepsi are setting record numbers. Ah, the power of the human will. Our will, however, can be broken by depression or built by the bricks of action and thought.

Excess responsibilities and possessions that shape our current American lifestyle are literally killing us. The old school mentality of work hard and play hard is the problematic root of most cumulative stress in our bodies. Most of the die-hards that live this motto usually die hard, and early.

Beat stress with the New Year mantra! Turn off the TV, cancel your XBOX subscription, unplug, meditate, laugh, get outside and live! Spend quality-unfiltered time alone and with others to relax from the demands of your have-to-do lists. This strong connection to yourself will give you needed rest for the mental and physical repair so you're truly able to live hard and love even harder. Isn't that what life is all about?

As for health, it's time for America to let go of its pride and be humble again. As a country we must move on in search of individual accountability towards our own wellness in order to truly let go of what does not serve us. Letting go is by far the hardest thing a person can ever do. We've all been there, whether its releasing your influence of a loved one, over exercising, crash and binge dieting or even self sabotage in relationships. The need to be sure and be right is over.

We must evolve in this age of over-information by unlearning the special interest curriculum taught in higher educations and begin a new paradigm of alternative health applications. The financially motivated USDA food pyramid, Jillian Michaels, Dr. Phil and the food industry have never been stronger and more privately backed by investments than now.

Our fresh start begins today by being open to the possibility of change. Whatever has been done until now is inherently not working. We must teach those around us to never be emotionally swayed by six pack commercials and new "groundbreaking" supplements that promise fast hair growth and expedited muscle recovery ever again. The voice inside you is right; if it seems to good to be true it really is.

Trust your gut! The road to true health is not a backpack stocked with P90X, jump ropes, granola and cliff bars. It's simply a matter of chiseling and defining your purpose!

Better health is, and has always been, a matter of the mind. We are all just walking chemistry experiments that make choices due to reactions to and from the brain. If your passion and purpose about your life is strong enough, the brain will have all the chemistry it will ever need to live well.

2011, I'm calling you out! Here is our goal for this month- Lock down and define what truly makes you happy and gives you a sense of belonging and purpose. It can be as far as 5 years from now or next week, but the fact that you can see where you want to be will make all the difference. Once you do that, your weight loss, muscle gain and anything under the sun is abundantly yours.

Join me in your own personal revolution of letting go and finding your passions, purpose and health.

I'm stoked to be with you on the journey. For this New Year and always, may your wildest dreams come true.

"Simple kindness to one's self and all that lives is the most powerful transformational force of all. It produces no backlash, has no downside, and never leads to loss or despair. It increases one's own true power without exacting any toll." - D. Hawkins

Cortisol - Why your hormones matter
Great news! Gym memberships were up in America by over 3% last year! Bad news- as much as 79% of gym members only frequent the gym 2 times per month. With the average cost of a gym membership costing around $900.00 per year it is no surprise that when it comes to fitness, business is booming. Speaking of booming, what are...
