Washburn Tech to Host Expo This Thursday, July 14,2011

Demand by area firms for Advanced Systems Technicians continues to grow in Topeka and Northeast Kansas. Advanced Systems Technicians troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing machinery and equipment to keep production lines working. The Kansas Department of Labor projects demand for technicians will increase by 10 percent in Northeast Kansas through 2016. Growth and attrition will result in 550+ openings for these highly skilled positions which pay at least $18/hour in the region.

 

In response to the high demand for these technicians, Washburn Tech, GO Topeka, the Kansas Department of Commerce and area firms will hold an Advanced Systems Technician Job & Training Expo on July 14, 2011 from 8 a.m.-7 p.m. in the Washburn Tech Conference Center.

 

Employers are invited to display and share information about Advanced Systems Technician job opportunities. Information about careers in the field and training opportunities through the Washburn Tech program formerly known as Industrial Technology will be available. Financial aid is available to those who qualify and several assessment sessions will be held on July 14 for those who wish to take the first step to their future immediately.
