President's Message
Debbie Yee |
Greetings!
It is February, the month in which many of us find our calendars quite full with exciting piano events for both teachers and students:
Feb. 5 - Deadline for registrations for Honors recital
Feb. 6 - Monthly YAR at Capital Lakes
Feb. 12 - MAFOP Play-a-thon at Hilldale Mall
Feb. 19 - WSMA auditions for Madison Public Schools
Feb. 19 and 20 - Auditions for the Honors Recital

Please take special note that the election for new officers will take place at the Friday, February 11th general meeting.
Also please take a few minutes to fill out the Annual Member Survey. Let your voice be heard!
Looking forward

General Meeting and Program Fri, Feb 11 - 9- 11 am
Christ Presbyterian Church, 944 E. Gorham Street | |
Kathryn Maas presents- Money Management: Making the Most of Your Financial Future.
Kitty Maas has been in your shoes. She has taught both full and part time, both individually and through a school, both lessons and classroom, and knows the financial concerns for those whose main support is provided through music lessons. Even when combined with another person's salary or with other employment income, navigating the financial landscape to know when to do what can be a daunting task. Kitty will go through the common events that we encounter on our path to financial security through adulthood, and share with us insights for responding to these challenges along the way.
Kitty works with the Edington-Maas Fiscal Health Team, through Waddell & Reed, working with individuals and businesses to help them secure their financial future. She is the music director at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Madison, and teaches part time at the Arboretum Music School. For more information, contact Kitty Maas at (608) 695-0228.
The election for new officers will take place at this meeting. If you are not able to attend, prior to the meeting, please send your email votes to Grant Billings, chair of the nominating committee.

Following degrees in piano performance from the University of Missouri and University of Illinois, he received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Historical Performance of 18th Century Music from Cornell University. He moved to Madison in 1990, and founded the Light & Shadow concert and recording company in 1994. A teacher must fill out this form and forward it to the Vice President (currently Dr. Gloria Chuang). There will be thermometers at each site to watch the donations increase. The goal is $12,000! What a great way for a child to help another child feel better. Besides the piano teachers and their students, the Madison Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild will have an information table. The teacher whose students bring in the most donations will receive a gift certificate valued at $100. All piano students bringing in $100 or more will be entered into a drawing for a one-night stay for a family of four at Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells, and additional dining coupons.
