Greetings!
We're so excited that you have signed up with your Senior to attend our Senior Send Off Celebration coming up in May. There are a couple things we need from you really soon. I wanted to clarify what a blessing for your child could look like, and I wanted to tell you about something new we're trying this year.
Blessing: We will be giving you and your child some time alone together to share a blessing. This blessing is something that you need to prepare to present your child with. This could look like a letter you've written them that you'd like to read to them. This could be a framed picture with a Bible verse. This could even just be one word written on an object.
This is an intentional time for you to speak some identity and character into your child. Please make it your own and make it meaningful. We will give you about 7 minutes to present this at the SSO dinner on May 19th. Pick a character quality or an aspect you're proud of and dwell on it...or write a letter about all the growth and amazement they've shown you over the past 17-18 years. For creativity advice or questions please email Josh at jfortney@stmattcpc.org.
Bibles: Many of you know we present your senior with a Bible at church that weekend. We will trying to SECRETLY distribute these Bibles to YOU personally as early as April 29th. It is our hope that you will SECRETLY take your child's new Bible around to different family and friends who have had an impact on them or your family. Have them SECRETLY underline, highlight, or leave notes by key verses in the Bible. These notes will be reminders to them of who has impacted them and will prompt them to go digging in the Word to see who's underlined what.
Please look for Lisa Stokes or Josh Fortney at church or drop by the office to SECRETLY pick up your child's Bible. This will such a cool resource to them as they see who all has underlined verses for them. We would love it if you'd return the Bibles to the church by May 15th. We will then present it to them at the church service you decide to attend that weekend.
Please email or call with any questions as we seek to bless you and your senior through this celebratory time! |
