Happy New Year

Birthday Gift to Jesus Tops $140k

The Christmas Eve offering to our 'Birthday Gift to Jesus' has hit and surpassed the $140,000 mark!!!

Thank you, St. Matthew for your generous outpouring of love for Christ and the commitment to His outreach ministries!

The money is slated to help build hostel, kitchen and bath facilities so that young girls will have a chance at an education. Education that young boys already have the privelege to receive. Ethiopian women are undervalued in their culture and have fewer opportunities of attending school, especially when the school is so far from their homes.

A portion of the funds, of the Birthday Gift to Jesus will be used closer to home in outreach within our own community.

Thank you very much, Church!

Welcome Josh Fortney

St. Matthew is extremely excited to announce the missing link in our Family Ministries Team has been filled with the hiring of our new Youth Minister, Josh Fortney.

Josh and Melissa, his wife of 4 months will be coming to us from Pine Cove Christian Camp in Tyler, Texas. Josh is very passionate about the importance of the role of families in the spiritual growth of their children. He is currently furthering his education in the Master's Program at Dallas Theological Seminary. Josh brings to St. Matthew his gifts of worship leadership, organizing youth events, passion for teens growing in their relationship with Christ and experience working with youth leaders.

We feel so blessed to have Melissa and Josh joining our church family. Josh will began planning and meeting with staff on Feb. 1 and will be on campus beginning Feb 15th.   Josh will make his first public appearance as a staff member at our Parent Summit on January 28th.

PARENT SUMMIT

And speaking of the Parent Summit.....What is it? Why do we need it? Why should I give up my Saturday afternoon to attend it?

Every parent knows they need to lead their children spiritually, the question is "How"? Register now for the Parent Summit on Jan 28th and get your family on the "path" to Legacy Milestones.

Legacy Milestones is a strategy for the church and home to walk together in teaching our kids the core concepts they need to develop an authentic faith in Jesus Christ.   At the summit, parents will attend age appropriate classes for their children to achieve milestones as follows:

Milestone 1-Parent Commitment/Baby Baptism - parents of ages:   expecting - toddlers

Milestone 3 - Preparing for adolescence, parents of ages: 10-12

Milestone 4 - A Life of Purity, parents of ages 13-14

Milestone 5 - Rite of Passage. parents of ages: 15-16

Milestone 6 - Life after High School, parents of ages: 17-18

Milestone 7 - Life in Christ, all adults

It is ideal for parents to attend milestone seminars a couple of years before child will be of age to celebrate each milestone.
