FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD
that he gave his only SON...
by Rick Owen
John 3:16 is the most famous verse in the Bible, known by believers and unbelievers alike. It is plastered on billboards, websites, t-shirts, jewelry and bathroom walls. It is everywhere except where it matters most, in our character.
John 3:16 is not a secret password to be repeated before entering into heaven. Neither is it an I.D. to be carried in our purse or pocket so we can get out of speeding tickets or a discount from a sister Christian. John 3:16 reveals the very character of God himself and it identifies those traits that will be found in us as we become more and more like Jesus.
"For God so loved the world that he gave......." We are never more like God than when we love and when we give. I think that is why I love Christmas. Men, please don't take away my man card, but One of my simple pleasures is to slip off and spend the whole day shopping for Dallas. Yes, you heard me, I like shopping for my wife! Maybe this will help men. Listen again. I don't like shopping. I like shopping for Dallas, for DALLAS. Why? Please continue article @ http://stmattcpcpastor.blogspot.com/

Financial SNAPSHOT
In this era of recession, and decreased giving for many churches, St. Matthew CPC is breaking the curve. General giving in 2010 was very good and through the first ten months of 2011, general giving is 3.6% higher than the comparable ten months of 2010. Through 10 months of 2011, general giving was $1,467,096 while expenses were $1,402,769, resulting in $64,327 of additional funds.
Long-term debt is $1,964,879 at October 31, 2011. St. Matthew has reduced its long-term debt by approximately $927,000 since 2007. It is humbling to note that on January 1, 2007 long-term debt was $2,808,000.
God has truly blessed this place called St. Matthew. Thanks be to God. | |
