Does you home have Masonite Siding?
For the first time, we are seeing some companies require that their relocating employees refrain from purchasing homes with masonite siding. Masonite, also know as hardboard or clapboard, is one of the primary wooden sidings used on homes built prior to 1996-97. Masonite is considered a high maintenance type of siding that must be caulked properly and painted frequently.
If this trend continues, home sellers with masonite siding will find it more challenging to compete with similar homes with brick or hardiplank (fiber cement) siding. A wise long term strategy in order to keep your home up to date and more sellable is to change your masonite siding sooner rather than later.
