Tip 1: Choose Your Color Palette
Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, an extension of your personality. Before beginning your project, look around your home and in your closet at the colors you are attracted to. Colors have a big impact on your mood. Cool aqua and cream can relax and calm you, while warm red and orange can be intense and invigorating.

Consider function and environment. If you have children or animals, stick to heavier weight, durable fabrics that can withstand soil and wear well. On the other hand, if you prefer a cooler environment while sleeping or have trouble lifting heavyweight fabrics, use lighter weight fabric that can breathe.
Tip 2: Consider Custom-Made, Ready-Made or Both
One of the most popular and rewarding projects our customers undertake is designing custom bedding for their own bedroom. We've helped many people get the bed of their dreams by helping them choose fabrics, trims and fringe that are a daily delight to behold and use. (The examples above are custom-made.)

A recent trend we've noticed is mixing ready-made coverlets with a custom-made dust ruffle. You get the convenience of ready-made, with the uniqueness of custom-made. Plus, our designers can make sure your dust ruffle skims the floor just where you want it to.
Tip 3: Accessorize With PillowsDecorative pillows are the icing on your bedding's cake! They don't have to be "matchy matchy". Be bold and dramatic with textures, trims and complementary colors.
Tip 4: Set Your Budget
This may not be the fun part, but it's important. Know how much you can commit to your project - it'll dictate what kind of fabric can be used and how elaborate your design can be. Details such as trim, fringe and cording can add loads of personality to your bedding, but they can sometimes double the price! A great way to stay within budget but keep the bedding interesting is to use trim only for small pillows or use fabric-covered cording where possible.
