CLUB TECH CHAMPIONS ANNOUNCED!
Congratulations to Milana Burdette & Brandon Jamar
On May 27, 2010, Microsoft and the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club will host a special ceremony to congradulate 33 local club members and present them with a brand new NetBook!
In the competition, students were given the option to complete one task from the categories of photography, short films, or Web-based games. This competition was designed specifically by Microsoft to spur interest in technology-related jobs.

104th ANNUAL NATIONAL CONFERENCE
Erikk Aldridge, Sugar Ray Leonard and Leslie Billinger (Board Member) @ National Conference
This premier networking event serves nearly 2,500 attendees eager to learn about the latest techniques and products in the youth-development field. The National Conference will take an in-depth look at issues such as racism, youth violence, illiteracy and unemployment and how they are placing all youth at risk. Thank you to our board members who attended the conference in New York: Leslie Billinger, Marty Goldberg, Cathy Hession and Evelyn Morgan.

"With 42% of students dropping out of our local high school, we can't stand idle. we must act now to engage, educate and empower our teens."- Erikk Aldridge, Executive director, Boys & Girls Club of Venice. Club donors awarded more than $10,000 in college scholarships this past year to Club and staff members.
The Wise Family Scholarship Foundation was established in 2008 by former Boys & Girls Club of Venice Board President, Michael Wise. Mr. Wise is currently a partner at JH Snyder Company in Los Angeles. The foundation awards four annual $2,000 merit based scholarships each June. To apply for this scholarship please complete the attached: Wise Family Scholarship Application.
The David C. Mandell, In His Footsteps, College Scholarship Fund was established through the Boys & Girls Club of Venice in commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Boys & Girls Club of Venice. Faye Mandell, the widow of Dave Mandell, their daughter, Arielle Mandell, along with friends established the David C. Mandell, In His Footsteps Scholarship Fund, in honor of the late David C. Mandell. The In His Footsteps scholarship will be awarded to a local high school senior who demonstrates effort, determination, and a commitment towards working and partnering with other cultures for positive goals.

All members in 6th, 7th & 8th grade are members of Tomorrow's Leaders and encouraged to participate in Tomorrow's Leaders Projects 2010. "My Perfect Life Collage", Essay, and A-G Subject Requirements Poster is due by Friday, May 28th at 6:00 PM. Power Point Presentations can be e-mailed to Michelle@bgcv.org. Members will be rewarded for their efforts!
