Mike & Robin's Missions Update

October 2010
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. If anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he decieves himself.  Galations 6:2-3
South Africa Trip Report
We spent 3 wonderful weeks in South Africa in September. It was a busy and rewarding time. There were so many sweet reunions with so many dear friends in SA. It was also very special to have Sandra and Douglas Shuff and then Suzy and Doug Hufton join us during part of our time there. In addition to this newsletter update you can also see information on our trip on Mike's blog Slender Wires (read the posts for 4 Sept and 24 Sept). As Mike shared in those posts, two theme words for us during this trip were "progress" and "relationships".

We would like to share a few pictures that capture some of the trip highlights:

Sandra shares "Jesus Loves the Children" story at Sunnyside Creche as Lindiwe translates
Sandra shares the gospel

Pas's amazing "garden in a bag" was recently started through support from Two Tunics. Now it is feeding the children.

Home Based Care visits with Pastor Amos and Busi.

Our visit to Moi at Sinekhono Project with Doug and Suzy. They are doing an amazing job of feeding and loving over 150 kids after school.

Debbie's girls Rachel and Nunus who prayed to accept Jesus as Lord as we shared the gospel with them on 12 Sep 2010. God also answered a prayer for a new and better place for them to live while we were there and able to help them move. Praise the Lord!

Mike Resumes Part Time Work at the VA Hospital
Mike has accepted a temporary intermittent position in the Ambulatory Care Service at the Spokane VA Medical Center. He spent 3 days this past week in orientation and computer training and will start working 3 days a week in the Primary Care Clinic. It is important that Mike get some current experience working as a physician in the US to maintain his credentials. This will also provide some much needed income for us while we remain here in the US. We will continue to live in the Seattle area as Robin helps care for Mikah. Mike will stay with our son Ryan in Spokane when he is working there. The flexible work schedule and everything about the situation is an answer to prayer.

Mike will continue working as Executive Director of Two Tunics and we will both remain very involved in overseeing the day to day operation of the South Africa office and Two Tunics programs there. However, as of October we will no longer receive personal monthly financial support from Two Tunics. We want to thank those of you who have been providing faithful monthly support to us through Two Tunics these last 5 years. Look for a personal letter or email from us in the near future. We would like to ask you all to continue your financial support of Two Tunics knowing that your donations will go directly to programs that transform the lives of children and others affected by the dual epidemics of AIDS and poverty in South Africa.
Travel with Two Tunics to South Africa in 2011
Two Tunics is beginning to make plans for a team to visit South Africa in March 2011. The exact dates have yet to be set. The trip will offer an opportunity for you to personally engage with the issues of AIDS and poverty in Africa as well as to serve our partners on the ground. There is a lot of flexibility in terms of activities the team could be involved with depending on the skills and passions of the team members. If you have any interest in potentially being a part of this team trip please email Mike mike@twotunics.org or Kevin Longmeier klongmeier@gmail.com .
