Greetings,

We are pleased to send you the 2010 second quarter report on the activities of Two Tunics' South Africa office and programs. We hope you enjoy this report and look forward to sending you further updates throughout the year.

TWO TUNICS (TT) QUARTERLY REPORT: April - June 2010

COMMUNITY FOR KIDS PROGRAM

1. TT community partner projects.

This term saw the unfolding of the process of working with the 9 selected TT community projects partners. This process of moving towards a more sustainable approach in supporting community projects was initiated in March this year, during Mike & Robin's last visit to South Africa. Most of these community projects have now submitted their responses to a baseline survey which was sent out to each one of them. This has helped us get basic projects information like: project structure, vision & goals, community needs, local assets and also resources requested from Two Tunics. The TT board & directors then continue to raise support, both locally and internationally, for these projects.

Recent Accomplishments:
>Sunnyside (Nokukhanya) Crèche of Murchison: There have now been improvements to the 2 class roomed building facility which was built last year through partnerships with TT. These include, a half-wall around the veranda  and a fence around the crèche building to improve children's safety. Electrical lightning has also been installed in the building. Toilet facilities also got improved, and hopefully a jungle-gym will soon be built in order to enhance children's physical development.

Thanks to Grace Church, USA, who provided funding for most of this work.

>Sinothando Crèche of Gamalakhe got their small garden fenced, as well as the needed gardening material, in order to improve project sustainability.

TT continues to raise support for all the other partner community projects as well. Funding for smaller income generating programs for some of these projects has already been allocated by TT. These include gas stoves & pots for rental, computer & printer for a small copying/typing office, gardening material etc. The goal of all of this support being offered is to help each of the projects with sustainability.

>Jesus' Voice Kingdom Ministries of Bhobhoyi received a donation from TT towards the improvement of its Mkholombe Church. Jesus' Voice Kingdom Ministries(JVKM), a TT community project partner, focuses on Home Based Care and evangelism. TT will continue supporting Sunnyside, JVKM and other projects who are involved in the HBC program, as God leads and provides.

Highlight Event:
Pupils from a neighbouring primary school visit Siyakhula Crèche in Bethania:
One Friday afternoon in May, the Siyakhula Crèche children & staff were thrilled as some pupils & staff from South City (SC) Primary paid them a visit. They enjoyed a blessed time of play and enjoyed some cake & snacks which the visitors had brought them. Siyakhula children in turn sang for the visitors. Thanks to Athena & SC Primary team.

2. TT non-partner supported projects
The rest of the 25 TT supported projects continue to get nutritious food   through the generous donations by Food4Africa(UK) and Feed The Babies(Durban). More than 1000 orphans & vulnerable children get nutritious porridge and lunch meal daily in these projects. As they become available, other donations like clothing, from various other donors, get passed on to these projects through TT as well.
Orphan Support Program

1. Orphans' home visits:

In May, the TT staff took time to visit the homes of a few orphans in the TT orphans database. Their grannies were ever so grateful especially  for the monthly school -related & food support that their children are getting through TT. Thanks go out to Shiloh Church in Albersville which supports some of these children on a monthly basis.

2. June Holiday Club:

During the June (World Cup) holidays, our lovely primary-school children (in our orphans database) attended the Scripture Union holiday club in Merlewood Primary. This was a very welcome & rare opportunity for these children, meeting with other children from the primary schools around, learning about God while having fun & snacks. Some of the children commented that the highlight was the bible verses learned, music & playtime. Every morning & afternoon the TT vehicle would be seen picking up these children from Murchison & Bhobhoyi areas for transport to Merlewood. Smiling faces of these appreciating children still linger on the faces of the TT staff as they would drive them to and from the site.

A picnic & beach outing sponsored by TT on the afternoon of Thursday the 24 June came as a cherry on top of a great week for these orphans. The guardians of the children & one of the principals of their schools are ever so thankful to TT and SU for this opportunity. What better way to occupy these energetic, open-minded young ones than showing them Christ's love-in action during holidays. Once again, a BIG thank you goes to the Scripture Union team.

Our hope is that these OVC's will continue to get support through TT, as donations/support (locally & internationally) continues. We pray that all of this will help to bring glory to Him who is worthy, our Lord Jesus Christ.
