We look forward to your participation in this event and we thank you all for your support of Berkshire Baseball. We encourage you to choose your foursomes as early as possible to avoid last minute difficulties. Thanks again, and we hope to see you all on May 1st.

Fall Tryouts This Weekend!
We would like to remind everyone that our next tryout for all of our 2010 Berkshire Baseball Fall programs will be held this coming Sunday, April 11, 2010.

Tryouts will be held at the
Robesonia Playground at 9:00 a.m. with registration beginning at 8:00 a.m.
All potential players interested in playing on one of our fall teams should attend this tryout.

We suggest that you tryout for our teams as early as possible for two reasons. The first is that we will make our player selections after each tryout, therefore, there will be fewer spots available on each roster as we get closer to the start of our season. The second reason is that the sooner that you are selected, the more opportunities you will have to participate in our fundraising activities which can help offset your cost.
For players who have already been selected to one of our fall teams via our winter workouts, we ask that you attend this event as well so that we can get you fitted for your spikes.

28-Over Sox
Hunt for Wins in 2010

The Berkshire 28-Over Red Sox has now gone two seasons without finishing in the top four teams in the Berks County Senior Baseball League (BCSBL). The team finished the 2009 regular season 9-9 and tied for fifth, overall. But not putting together a winning streak during the playoffs once again (0-2) kept them from their annual championship dream for another year.

For 2010, manager Kevin Kantner would like to finish the season with that title in the Berkshire record books.

The Sox return most of its core starting line-up from last season. Team MVP Troy Gaston and Pitcher of the Year Shawn Seidel return, along with Tom Krick, John Guiseppe, Kantner, Randy Strausser, Brad Burg, Anthony Cinfici, Bud Dietrich, Elvis West, Sean Gaston, and Scott Barrell. 2006 & '07 Team MVP Scott Emerich returns to the line-up as well.  Key losses from last year's team include Barry Carl, Steve Diaz, Mike Stern, Keith Kelly and Bill Fox.

Kantner is hopeful that new additions Steve Randolph, Mike DeSante, Matt Reimert, Jared Mace & Ty Orth will fill those key losses, allowing the team to contend for wins and the league championship.

The 2010 team will began its season with a pitching staff of Strausser, Seidel, Emerich, West, Dietrich, Guiseppe and Desante. If this group can perform to expectations, the Red Sox can stay a contender well into the season.

The goal remains the same for the 2010 Sox - the BCSBL Championship.
