Association of Large Families of America Challenges Time Magazine's "One and Done" Theory

Association of Large Families of America is pushing back against the cultural attitude of intentionally limiting family size to 1 child by showing the blessings of large families.  July's edition of Time Magazine features a cover story "The Only Child Myth: One and Done" which states that "singleton households may become the new traditional family".

Jenn Giroux, Executive Director of HLI America (the organization that initiated the Association of Large Families of America) states "There is a steady theme contained within mainstream publications today that is demoralizing young couples from considering having large families.  Difficult economic times (not unlike the Depression) will always pass but the blessings of children are forever.  Time Magazine objectifies the child as a trophy for the parents and not the treasure of God's gift."

Families who accept God's blessing of children can join Association of Large Families which allows them to network with others and share their stories. This is growing community of families who are standing together as witness to the counter culture comeback of large families.

The National Catholic Register latest edition included an article on the Association of Large Families of America...."If there's truth in the adage "A picture is worth a thousand words," then the Association of Large Families of America is speaking volumes on its website (FourorMore.org) with numerous photos of big families. This initiative and its equally new parent initiative HLI America are the newest champions in the culture of life's corner." read more.

Over the past few decades the American Catholic family has fallen from 5.5 to 2.1.

About HLI America

Human Life International, under the leadership of Fr. Tom Euteneuer, has been fighting the culture of Death around the world in over 100 Countries. This, however, is the first official designated program outreach in America. HLI America will bring Americans the truth about human life, the beauty of children and the devastating and harmful physical and spiritual effects of contraception in America.

The creation of HLI America highlights that both in our own personal lives and on the World stage "protecting life begins at home".  As the grip of the culture of death becomes tighter on America, HLI America will take dead aim at exposing the connection between the use of contraception and the increased number of abortions.  Our mission will be focused on re-igniting in America the desire to protect every single life and the willingness to accept and embrace the children that God has intended for their marriage. As with all HLI initiatives, HLI America will advocate for the protection of life from before natural conception (i.e. not using abortifacients and other birth control) to natural death.
