The slumbering giant is preparing to flex its muscle. Tea Parties across the nation are consolidating forces for their annual tax day rallies to dispel the political innuendo that our grass roots organizations are dead. Are you happy with the way our government has been going? If not, let's tell our government that we will not stand quietly and watch our country die. We want the naysayers to understand that we are alive and well; and our power cannot be denied. The Albuquerque Tea Party will sponsor its:
Tax Day Rally
April 16, 4:00-7:00PM
Menaul and Louisiana
We are planning to advertise this event using Roving Rallies: small groups of five people each at several major intersections waving signs starting three weeks before the rally.
With elections only eight months away, we need our supporters help. Can you help us with our small team advertising rallies? We are already having the signs for these rallies printed. America needs us to stand in its defense. If you support smaller government, less taxation and the free enterprise system-if you want to play a part in turning around America this year, come join us.
We need patriots to stand on major intersections, wave our signs and encourage Albuquerque to attend the April 16, Tax Day Rally.

The Virginia state constitution was adopted a month before the Declaration of Independence was approved by the Congress in 1776. In discussing that state constitution several years later, Thomas Jefferson wrote on the danger of vesting too much power in the hands of one branch of government. His prophetic words 230 years ago speak loudly about the situation we currently see in America. He said that politicians:
". . .should look forward to a time, and that not a distant one, when a corruption in this (country), as in the country from which we derive our origin, will have seized the heads of government, and be spread by them through the body of the people; when they will purchase the voices of the people, and make them pay the price. Human nature is the same on every side of the Atlantic, and will be alike influenced by the same causes. The time to guard against corruption and tyranny, is before they shall have gotten hold of us. It is better to keep the wolf out of the fold, than to trust to drawing his teeth and claws after he shall have entered. . ."
One major concern heard over and over today is that the Progressives have purchased the voices and the votes of the people through a multiplicity of welfare and social giveaways. And those people will reciprocate by supporting the Progressives so the people will have their largesse protected. Are the people paying a price for these freebies as Jefferson predicted? Analysis indicates that the more a government controls its people, the more the standard of living declines for those people. The government giveaways, and the high taxation to maintain those giveaways, reduce the incentives to produce. This has proven to be the case in America over the past forty years.
Studies also show that the more a government spends and the more government gets into our lives, the more unemployment that government causes. Again, higher taxes and loss of liberty reduce incentives for the highly productive members of society to produce. Less productivity leads to layoffs and business closings. And that leads to unemployment. When government spending levels are tracked for the last forty years, there is a strong correlation between levels of government spending and unemployment. During a recent visit to the eye doctor, my doctor noted that he would probably be retiring in the next year or two because new government healthcare rules will create too much expense for him to cover. The new paperwork will require him to buy new software and he will have to hire at least two more people to keep up with that paperwork. So he will, instead, retire and his current employees will need to seek new employment.
It is time for Patriots to yell from the rooftops that the wolf is in the fold. His teeth are bared and his intent is to prey on the people for his own ends. No one wants to take time from their lives to fight for the right, to defend our country against tyranny; to work hard to restore America to its previous glory. But if not us, then who?
The Albuquerque Tea Party has all kinds of committees and teams they have developed to fight the good fight. We are coordinating with Tea Parties throughout the State and the Nation. Now we need to start building those teams for the 2012 struggle. This is a battle we simply cannot lose. Are you ready to get active? Come to our general meeting on March 20th at the Eastgate Church and be prepared to pick a team or two to support.

IRS, a Political Tool of the Left |
PRESS RELEASE-FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Albuquerque Tea Party Media Contact: Rick Harbaugh, 1709 Indiana NE, Albuquerque,NM 87110 505.268.4731 _________________________________________________________ Date of Release 3/11/2012
IRS Used as a Political Tool of the Left?
The Albuquerque Tea Party was established to advocate for the preservation of the United States and New Mexico Constitutions and the rights of the citizens of New Mexico especially, and the citizens of the United States generally, by promoting the limitation of government to those powers specifically granted by the respective Constitutions, promoting constraint of government spending and taxation, and promoting the advancement of a free market economy, all in order to further the common good and the general welfare of the residents of the State of New Mexico and the United States of America.
The Albuquerque Tea Party was therefore formed on August 5, 2009, as a non-profit New Mexico corporation, organized and operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended, and the Regulations promulgated under that law. Upon its formation the Albuquerque Tea Party applied to the U. S. Internal Revenue Service for recognition as a Section 501(c)(4)non-profit corporation. The IRS has never acted upon our application. Nevertheless, the Albuquerque Tea Party has scrupulously followed the guidelines and the restrictions in the Internal Revenue Code covering Section 501(c)(4) organizations.
We discovered a few days ago that New Mexico Senator Tom Udall, along with highly partisan Democrat Senators Schumer, Franken, Shaheen, Whitehouse, Merkley and Bennet, sent a letter to Commissioner of Revenue Douglas Shulman requesting that the IRS investigate all 501(c)(4) organizations that advocate for limitation of government to the powers specifically set forth in the Constitutions of the United States and of the respective states (in other words, Tea Parties and similar organizations). The Senators told the IRS to check to see whether and to what extent these organizations are engaging in "substantial campaign activity" in violation of the Internal Revenue Code. (Documentation of this letter is available to anyone accessing the Breitbart website: http://www.breitbart.com/).
Pursuant to the letter of the "Not So Magnificent Seven" [Senators], the IRS is sending letters demanding massive amounts of data from the Albuquerque Tea Party, over 90 other Tea Party groups (so far) all across the nation, 912 Groups, various Liberty Councils, Patriots and United for Action groups. Moreover, the IRS is seeking information (like membership lists, etc.) from many of the Patriot groups to which it is NOT ENTITLED pursuant to a number of Supreme Court rulings.
Apparently in response to the request of the Not So Magnificent Seven, the IRS, more than two years following our application, sent the Albuquerque Tea Party a letter demanding that we supply it with over 700 pages of paperwork (much of which is publicly available on our web site). The IRS insisted that we print out all of the documents from our web site and mail them to the agency. Moreover, IRS only gave us two and a half weeks to complete this task. Several tax attorneys and certified public accountants having expertise in non-profit tax exempt organizations were asked if the treatment being experienced by the Tea Parties and other Patriot organizations is typical. The general consensus of these experts was that they had never seen this level of intrusion and that this is NOT standard procedure for the IRS. They also questioned why all these IRS demands have only recently appeared.
To be fair to the IRS, to date it has not requested from Albuquerque Tea Party the identities of our supporters, volunteers and donors. Moreover, we will provide our very best efforts to comply with all lawful requests of IRS. However, for the protection of our supporters, volunteers and donors from unlawful harassment, We will never release their identities.
It appears to us that Leftist Progressives, including our own Senator Udall, are using the IRS as a political weapon to attack and silence all who are speaking the truth about the dangers to America from their continuing and incessant attacks upon our Constitution and our traditional American culture. We believe that Commissioner of Revenue Shulman is an honorable man and that, historically, the IRS has a reputation of being free of partisan political activity. However, we also believe that the pressure from the "Not So Magnificent Seven" did not originate with them; but that it was orchestrated by persons in the West Wing of the White House, with the complicity of Secretary of Treasury Geithner, to provide cover for a certain re-election campaign.
There is no similar pressure by the federal government upon 501(c)(4) organizations that openly support the Progressive agenda. It is therefore clear that harassment of the Tea Parties and similar groups by government officials is politically motivated, and an attempt by certain persons and entities to effect the outcome of the November general election. It reeks of Chicago machine politics. If this partisan harassment continues, the board of the Albuquerque Tea Party will work nationally with other Tea Parties to respond to this attach upon free speech and the United States Constitution.
