Support Governor Martinez on the "Haze" Issue
|
The Albuquerque Tea Party sees much abuse of the Constitution by the Obama administration when it enacts regulatory changes without the consent of Congress and which, in their affect, become new laws that dramatically exceed that scope of laws approved by Congress. Many of these regulatory issues are hurting Americans and damaging the United States. One need only look to the northwestern section of New Mexico to see the potential damage from this usurpation of power. The Four Corners Power Plant, which is jointly owned by power companies in New Mexico and Arizona, has spent millions of dollars providing scrubbers that have dramatically reduced emissions from it coal-fired generators. Now, The Obama Administration wants these companies to spend hundreds of millions of dollars more to further reduce emissions to eliminate "haze"- an issue not mentioned in the Clean Air Act. Under past-Governor Richardson, and in support of Obama's clean energy agenda, New Mexico committed to a regional pact to reduce emissions even further. Following the recommendation of Governor Martinez, an Environmental Improvement Board meeting will be held December 7th in Santa Fe Hall to consider whether or not this pact places an undue hardship on the citizens of New Mexico (who will end up paying for the additional scrubbers). Environmental Improvement Board Meeting (links to .pdf) December 5th at 9:00 AM Apodaca Hall, PERA Building, 1120 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe, NM 87505 New Mexicans understand that this interstate pact is not addressing a pollution issue. Just like the $535 million loan to bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra, it is an effort by the Progressive Movement to further Obama's green energy initiative by promoting a dramatic increase in the cost of coal-fired electrical generation. Citizens of New Mexico are encouraged to attend the meeting mentioned above and support the rollback of these oppressive regulations.
