We The People Rally Reminder

We The People Rally

We The People Rally Flyer - EMTP

January 18th is the start of a new era in New Mexico.  Many organizations from across the state will be in Santa Fe for the opening of this year's legislative session. The Albuquerque Tea Party, alongside with the East Mountain TEA Party, TEA Party groups from across the state, including other Patriots, Conservatives, and Business groups, will be gathered together, with as large a crowd as we can muster, to greet the incoming State Legislators and NM elected officials. We have an opportunity to send a message to our officials, through our signs, through the Rally, via a written Decree, with notes from constituents, and the press conference with Rally speaker, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, to urge them to govern honestly with the people's best interest at heart, and to remember, WE ARE WATCHING THEM.

These are terrible times, and we need responsible, nonpartisan, patriotic citizens in office, who will do all they can to bridge the deficit, cut back the budget wherever possible, and find solutions to the multiple problems with which they are faced on New Mexico's behalf. We are planning to make it abundantly clear, in the most civil way possible, that we are watching to see that they carry out the wishes of We The People, and especially that there is never the taint of corruption.

Would you please join us in bringing this message? Please bring friends, family, and other like-minded patriots and join us on the west steps of the Capitol on January 18th from 9AM - 11AM.

The following information is from the East Mountain Tea Party:

Some supporters have asked what the Tea Parties can do to help get a massive crowd on January 18 at the Roundhouse.

Here are the essential actions you can take:
1. Promote the rally
2. Have Fund Raisers
3. Writing a "bill" and Speaking at the Rally
4. Sign making

Let's break that down to identify some aspects of each:

1. Promote the rally:
A--Flyers:
i. We'll be posting flyers (soon--Please give us a week or so to  get our idea tweaked) that you can print on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper to give to people and organizations.

ii. We'll also be sending you a 4-up on a page that you can cut apart and leave a stack at various spots like 7-11's, restaurants, bars, gyms movie refreshment counters, coffee shops, video rental stores, schools and the like.

B--who to contact,  and where to leave flyers:
i. As I wrote earlier, some of the places to leave flyers are:
neighbors, friends and family,
business associates,
community groups (such as the Elks, PTA, Firefighter volunteer groups, neighborhood watch groups)
discussion groups,
churches,
gyms,
motorcycle clubs,
car clubs,
gun clubs,
bridge clubs
women auxiliary clubs
sewing, quilting and baking clubs
American Legion
Veterans of Foreign Wars
community clubs such as neighborhood crime watch groups
basketball & football fan clubs,
community laundries,
political clubs,
charter schools,
neighborhood schools,
private schools
parents doing home schooling (the rally this is going to be an excellent civics lesson).

Look through your local yellow pages. It will probably give you more ideas.

2.  Fund Raisers:
Fund raisers not only make money to finance printing copies of our flyers, they can also be fun:
A. Have a bake sell-off---make fudge, cookies, pies & sell them
B. Have a lottery party---sell tickets for a nice lottery prize that you might ask a local retailer to donate. Be sure to give the retailer a free ticket.
C.  A piata party selling tickets for taking a swing
D.  "Carnival" best shot party: sell tickets to throw balls and knock
down a stack of plastic bottles.
E. Have a Christmas party: sell tickets to guess how many beans are in a jar. Be sure to have a nice prize, for instance, ask a retailer to donate a ham---be sure to give him a free ticket for the guessing game.

I think you can probably come up with some better ideas. The thing to keep in mind that fundraising should be fun, include dances, singing and so forth.  They also help to bring your community together and let you sell the rally in a brief talk during the fund raiser.

3. Writing a "bill" and Speaking at the January 18 Rally:
A. if you want to write a bill to present to the legislature, please do. Several people are writing bills. I'm one of them.  Some of our bills will be presented at the legislature, others will be distributed among legislators and rally participants.

B.  If you want to speak of the Rally, let us know. We'll give you a minute or two to say what's on your mind. Jot down a few remarks. Practice them at your parties and have fun. Then on January 18th, see what you look like on TV and get practice for public speaking in your own town.

4. Have a sign making party:
A. sign making parties are a good way to get people excited about the Rally.  And it's a good promotion tool.  Be sure to bring your signs to the rally.
i, Your signs should be at least 10" x 15" (preferably 15" x  20") so the TV cameras can see them).
ii. don't spend your money. Ask people to bring a piece of poster board and some markers.
iii. you provide the venue: might be your house or the school auditorium.
iv. have some happy music playing in the background
v. give people ideas for signs---such as the following:

a--No more government corruption
b--De-regulate  Businessmen
c--Save Money - Close Government Agencies
d--NO NEW TAXES
e--CUT TAXES
f-- limit government
g--restore individual rights

Keep the ideas simple and on basic issues. Before you start, give a brief talk about how exciting this rally is going to be. And remind everyone to bring their signs to the rally. Any extra signs you make you can tack to telephone polls around town to advertise the rally.

Thanks very much for your participation.  We want to have a MASSIVE rally.  We are shifting the direction of our government toward freedom and free-markets and away from socialism. And we want a HUGE presence in Santa Fe to impress this upon the legislators.

So bring everyone you can and have a good time.

As you are well aware we have no outside financial support except what you the volunteers provide.  To eliminate as much expense as possible we are asking for your help.  If your organization/group/church has access to a bus/van, would you be kind enough to ask if they would volunteer the bus/van to transport our group to Santa Fe for this event? It would be greatly appreciated!  We can help cover the cost of the fuel by charging a small fee from each rider.  If you can obtain a bus/van, please send an email to [email protected]

Any donations to defray the cost of this event will be greatly appreciated!

Please click here to donate to the rally via PayPal.

Also, if you plan to attend this rally on the bus/van, please send your RSVP to [email protected]
