CONGRESSMAN-ELECT STEVE PEARCE TO HOLD LISTENING TOUR OF SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO

Jobs Top Priority as Pearce Begins Transition

Mr. Pearce visits Tea Party Meeting

UNM Law Library Friday @ 8 p.m.

Hobbs, NM (November 29, 2010) Congressman-elect Steve Pearce will hold a five-day listening tour of Southern New Mexico to meet with constituents and set priorities for his return to Congress.

The tour, which will run Monday, November 29, through Friday, December 3, will bring Mr. Pearce to seventeen cities and towns in the district.  The focus of Mr. Pearce's tour will be jobs and job creation.  Mr. Pearce is committed to restoring jobs in southern New Mexico, and hopes to learn what is needed from the people who know best.

The public is invited to attend the Tea Party event at 8 p.m. Friday at the UNM Law Library.

Pearce has listed jobs as a top priority since early in the campaign, and is now taking that mission throughout the district.  "We're going to ask people, 'What do you need? What are the obstacles to job creation and job preservation in southern New Mexico?'" said Pearce.  Whether the answers to those questions involve better transportation, economic policies, tax cuts, or other solutions, the congressman will get his marching orders straight from the business owners and workers he represents.

But the tour is about more than jobs alone.  It's about making your concerns heard in Washington.  "This is a chance to tell me what's important to you," Pearce said.  For Pearce, who was first elected to Congress in 2002 and represented the district until 2009, interaction with the people of Southern New Mexico is nothing new.

Pearce takes office January 5th.  Below are the locations and times for the tour.  Members of the public are encouraged to attend.
