Hello
to all of our fellow Albuquerque Tea Party and other New Mexico Tea
Party Supporters!
Twenty-one states have filed lawsuits
challenging the constitutionality of the healthcare law, and legislation has
been introduced, or is about to be introduced, in 41 states banning key aspects
of the measure. Read this article for more information "Attacks
on Healthcare Law Gain Steam".
We want
New Mexico to join in on the challenge of the unconstitutional bill passed by
congress, including 2 of our very own U.S. Representatives. The third
Representative voted "No" against the bill, but not for the reason you might
think. Several New Mexico Tea Parties are sponsoring a Rally at the Roundhouse
on May 12th to petition Attorney General Gary King to file a
lawsuit on behalf of New Mexico. Thanks to the efforts of Sheryl
Bohlander of the Santa Fe Tea Party, Char Tierney and Therese Cooper of the
East Mt. Tea Party, Sylvia Bokor of the Albuquerque Tea Party, and so many
others. A petition that was started shortly after the horrendous healthcare
bill passed, and was signed my many citizens at many of the Tax Day Rallies and
other events, will be presented at the Rally at the Roundhouse.
Because
of the seriousness of this issue and because it has been said that this
Rally is being sponsored by all the Tea Parties of New
Mexico, we encourage each of you to join all of us in doing everything
you can to bring as many people as you possibly can to the Roundhouse on
May 12th by 10:30 AM. We know that the citizens of New Mexico are largely
against this bill, and therefore it is the perfect opportunity to reach out to
people who have never attended a Tea party event. There is a carpool being started
from two locations in our local area. For more information regarding both
East Mt and Albuquerque area carpooling, please call 505-269-6684.
Please
join us in our efforts to promote this rally. Contact your local media to
inform them of this event. Two organizers from the East Mountain Tea Party will be
on Jim Sandell's 11 O'clock Live show, on channel 730 AM in
Albuquerque, from 11:05 to 11:20 AM, on Monday, May 10th to discuss this
issue. This is a topic of national interest, so hopefully your local
media will agree to cover it.
The
rally will be filmed by a representative from the Albuquerque Tea Party and
posted on YouTube. Direct descendent of Patrick Henry, Therese Cooper,
from the East Mountain Tea Party, will film a short interview
with one (or more) member from each Tea Party present as to why they
oppose the healthcare bill and support the AG filing a lawsuit against it. They
will send each Tea Party their interview to use on their site, or
as desired. Show your support by coming to the pre-press
conference rally at 10:30 AM on the West side of the Capitol. Bring
your signs! Supporters will line the sidewalk to welcome the five people
who will be meeting with the Attorney General, then stand behind them during
the brief press conference. Your show of support is very important.
Many
politicians are invited to come. They have been told that they are not invited
to speak at the press conference, but that they are welcome to join us and show
their support for the AG filing the suit by joining the crowd at the rally. If
anyone has any questions or comments, we will be happy to hear them.
A
special thank you goes out to Heather Wilson, Dr. Rick Morlen, Sheryl
Bohlander, Sylvia Bokor, and everyone who has participated in putting this
important event together. You are all patriots who make our Founding Fathers
proud. After all they did for us, we are honored to be associated with a
people of like spirit and courage.
