Don't Let Dianne's Bill Die!
Dear Fellow New Mexicans,
Speaker Lujan has reassigned the Photo ID bill
HB97 that State Representative Dianne Hamilton (R) introduced recently to the House Rules & Order of Business committee. He had originally assigned it to the Consumer & Public Affairs, Voters & Elections, and Appropriations & Finance committees. Now it will be decided whether it is germane or not. If the House Rules Committee determines it is not germane, the bill will never be heard.
Thousands of people from all over the state have supported Dianne Hamilton in putting forth this legislation. Many have made phone calls to the Capitol and many more have told their friends and neighbors about the importance of this bill.
As is stands now, anyone can give the name and address of a registered voter to a poll worker, and steal that citizen's vote. This is a violation of our most basic right.
Dianne thanks the scores of people whom she has never met, as well as her friends, for their prayers, help and support.
All the Republican members have already signed on to the bill. Call the Democrats and ask them to sign on to the bill and show their support for all New Mexicans. If you call Majority Caucus Leader, John Heaton, thank him for being one of the three Democrats who signed the Photo ID Bill!
Joseph Cervantes has been a strong opponent to the Photo Voter ID initiative. Tell him that the people are sick of the cheating!
We need to storm the offices of the Rules Committee before they meet on Wednesday, January 27th! They meet every Monday and Wednesday during the session from 8:30 - 10:00 AM. Give your name and phone number --- if one of them is your representative, make sure you tell that to their secretary!
This is our last gasp for fair and free elections. Please call! We're running out of time!
Thank you from the Albuquerque Tea Party!
