MILLION PATRIOT MARCH ON DC
By Barry Krakow, M.D., ATP Supporter
One Beautiful Saturday Morning and Afternoon
My family marched to the Nation's Capitol on Saturday
morning September 12th, a day with more dark clouds and grey skies
than sunshine, a nice metaphor for a Tea Party Patriot's perspective on the
current political climate. The MSM (Misleading
Statist Media) attempted to spread word of a low crowd count to suit their
agenda, but I feel confident in stating no less than 500,000 people marched up
to the Capitol. Imagine a really big football
stadium that holds 100,000 people; I believe there were sufficient crowds to
fill five stadiums or more. Read More

WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!
THE ATP SURVEY IS COMING SOON
The Albuquerque Tea Party needs your help to launch our Community Outreach Teams this fall. So many have been asking "What Can I Do?" and
this is your answer!
We all need to
connect with our neighbors in small groups to share information, inspire and
motivate each other, and participate together in some exciting new ATP events. We're
calling this the ATP Grassroots Training Camp, and it's time for all of us to
get involved!
Our focus is on the 2010 election on November 2, 2010.
That means we have to get our ground game started today! Read More

EDITORIAL: REDACT AND WITHHOLD
September 21, 2009 By The Washington Times
Hiding public
information is a game every new administration tries. President Obama's
Treasury Department is only the latest to join the fun, this time with a
Freedom of Information Act request from the Competitive Enterprise Institute.
Even after all the rule-bending, Treasury's sparse response is embarrassing to
the administration and its environmental allies.
In April, CEI requested Treasury records that "involve
'cap-and-trade' schemes that deal with 'carbon,' 'carbon dioxide' or
'greenhouse gases.' " After much delay, Treasury's Jennifer Beasley this
week finally replied with portions of five measly documents, at least one
written during the presidential transition period. That's a suspiciously slim
record for one of the administration's signature proposals. Read More

EDITORIAL: DEATH PANELS BY PROXY
September 25, 2009 By The Washington Times
Baucus bill pressures doctors to stop treatments
Yes, there are death panels. Its members won't even know whose deaths
they are causing. But under the health care bill sponsored by Senate Finance
Committee Chairman Max Baucus, Montana Democrat, death panels will indeed exist
-- oh so cleverly disguised as accountants.
The offending provision is on Pages 80-81 of the unamended Baucus bill,
hidden amid a lot of similar legislative mumbo-jumbo about Medicare payments to
doctors. Read More

A GENERATIONAL PERSPECTIVE
By Mark Newman (Intro by Staff), ATP Supporter
I received the
following from Pat Newman, an ATP supporter working with our Community Outreach
Team. She wanted to share her son's
perspective on what the nation is experiencing right now.
When I think back on
the challenges the world faced when I was growing up, they were different, yet
the same, as when Mark Newman grew up -- North Korean aggression into South
Korea; North Viet Nam aggression into South Viet Nam; the Berlin Airlift; the
Cuban Missile Crisis. In each case, the United States
joined with others to stop aggression and allow people the freedom to choose
their own way. Read More

MONEY AND BANKING 101
By Tom Bacon, ATP Supporter
Investors are often confused about the method the government uses to
create money. Often they talk about turning on the "printing
presses". Remember that a single Trillion Dollar stack of $100 Bills
would stretch from the earth to the moon. Read More |
SEPTEMBER EVENT RECAPS!
9/11 Candlelight Vigil From Steve McAllister, ATP Supporter
We gathered to remember the evil of September 11, 2001. We shared
one flame for our candles. As we contemplated in quiet, I understood then that
the deepest darkness cannot overcome the smallest light. Seeing the many tiny
candles, the spark in the human heart for freedom and justice, we have every reason
for hope.
9/12 March on the Round House From Newsletter Staff
The
Santa Fe Tea Party held a rally at the New Mexico Capitol Building on
September 12, 2009. Organized to
coincide with the big march on the Capitol in DC, they had a great turnout,
with the official count at about 1,000.
Several ATP supporters made the trip to lend their support to our fellow
Patriots.
Currently, the Santa Fe Tea
Party is keeping a close eye out for an announcement of a date for the special
session of the legislature. We won't
have much notice, but the Santa Fe
group will be coordinating an event to let them know how we feel on a variety
of issues. We'll keep you posted!

CAUGHT THE POLITICIANS REDHANDED
Reprint from The Rio Grande Foundation E-Bulletin
In
case you missed it, we at the Rio Grande Foundation recently
caught Albuquerque's political leaders trying to pull a fast
one on taxpayers.
As you are hopefully aware, voters are
already heading to the polls to decide on renewal of the
City's cent transportation tax which expires this year.
The
original tax was in effect for 10 years, but, as Rio Grande Foundation
President Paul Gessing pointed out in the Albuquerque Journal, on the
Channel 13 News, and on 770KKOB, the ballot language for the renewal of
the cent ballot language that appears on the ballot has no sunset!
Check the ballot
language for yourself here.
The appearance of Gessing's piece in the Albuquerque
Journal sent the politicians scurrying to "fix" the
problem by reassuring voters that the tax would last 10 years.
Subsequent articles and an editorial appeared in the
Albuquerque Journal to reassure voters that they
should support the tax. Ultimately, voters will have their say
on this tax and other issues. Information on where to vote
early can be found here.
