(34:6.13) The consciousness of the spirit domination of a human life is presently attended by an increasing exhibition of the characteristics of the Spirit in the life reactions of such a spirit-led mortal, "for the fruits of the spirit are love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance." Such spirit-guided and divinely illuminated mortals, while they yet tread the lowly paths of toil and in human faithfulness perform the duties of their earthly assignments, have already begun to discern the lights of eternal life as they glimmer on the faraway shores of another world; already have they begun to comprehend the reality of that inspiring and comforting truth, "The kingdom of God is not meat and drink but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit." And throughout every trial and in the presence of every hardship, spirit-born souls are sustained by that hope which transcends all fear because the love of God is shed abroad in all hearts by the presence of the divine Spirit.I am grateful for this perspective. Every day is a new chance to grow in the fruits of the Spirit. Every relationship is a new opportunity to practice our destiny as spirit-led mortals. Every moment we are being shaped by God's love, the wellspring of hope that transcends all fear. Isn't it absolutely wonderful to be human?

It has been my privilege to maintain and update the Study Group Directory for many years. I've gotten to know many of you through email and telephone conversations, and often had the joy of putting a face to a name by meeting you at conferences. I believe that study groups are the bedrock of the Urantia movement and that the Study Group Directory is a valuable tool for bringing readers together. I've been working with Jackie Koury for a year in preparation for her to succeed me, and I'm delighted to pass the torch to her. Study group has been an integral part of Jackie's life - and her engaging manner, dedication to service and years of experience as a teacher qualify her to be a terrific Study Group Directory Coordinator. Welcome Jackie!!!

She has been a sincere reader and a study group participant ever since. Jackie has lived in Alaska for over 30 years and has enjoyed the beauty, outdoor activities, and the simplicity of living in "The Last Frontier." She has just retired from a 24 year career as a primary school teacher. She looks forward to moving closer to family and friends, and plans to dedicate time, love, and energy toward sharing the revelation with others and participating more fully with Fellowship projects. A Discussion of Eugenics

Many of us are concerned about our spiritual future, the destiny of the soul. We are concerned for individual persons and for the human species as a whole. This year's summer study session approaches the question of where we are going through the perspective of progressive evolutionary civilization. According to The Urantia Book, there is a strong and clear connection between progressive evolutionary civilization and spiritual development.
Is it not vital for us who read and study the Fifth Epochal Revelation to address the problems of liberty, the home life, economic security, disease, education, employment, leisure, care of the unfortunate, race, science, art, philosophy, and cosmic insight? A Melchizedek of Nebadon, who provided this list, presented an encouraging, hopeful answer in that "progress in the arts of civilization leads directly to the realization of the highest human and divine goals of mortal endeavor--the social brotherhood of man and personal status of God-consciousness...." (The Urantia Book, 71: 4. 3)
Our youth have a stake as well in the future of progressive evolutionary civilization. We know from a Solitary Messenger that "Civilization is in danger when youth neglect to interest themselves in ethics, sociology, eugenics, philosophy, the fine arts, religion, and cosmology." (The Urantia Book, 111: 4. 4) Doesn't a serious preparation of young people for the future include the Solitary Messenger's perspective? Don't we who are older have a responsibility to speak to these concerns?
Please join us this summer as we explore some of the important aspects of human civilization on Urantia. We believe that the "potentials" between the growth of the soul and the pattern of how we choose to live in modern society is worth spending time to examine and discuss.
For those who may be interested, a seminar on eugenics is being offered during the upcoming Summer Study Session for 2012. Pre-registration is required for any person wishing to participate in it. The title of the seminar is: Eugenics and Evolutionary Progressive Civilization. The central focus will be on some of the teachings in The Urantia Book concerning ethics, law, biology, race and the social order. The task of addressing the quality of the human gene pool -- its liabilities and assets -- is left largely up to us since the Adamic technique was not successful on Urantia. This seminar was conceived as an opportunity to have a conversation about the issue. This e-mail is an invitation to join the seminar. The Urantia Revelatory Process
by Denver PearsonDecember 2011 Whether we are a long time student or a new reader of the Urantia Book, the most often asked question and the most difficult to satisfactorily answer is, "Who wrote it and how?" We all eventually come up with some unsure and therefore uncomfortable answer we have rehearsed over and over again to make it sound intelligently authoritative. But the answer we have devised has been derived from what we've heard from others or have read in Urantia apocrypha and as soon as it leaves our lips we feel a little empty. It was because of this feeling I decided to go back to the small amount of information available about the early days and to the revelation itself to see if I could come away with a clearer idea about the origin of the papers. A 3-day Mini Conference for Urantia Book Readers by Andrea Barnes
May 11-13 in San Diego Urantia Book readers from all over Southern California gathered for fellowship, fun, and learning at the beautiful Layfayette Hotel.

The first night we hosted a meet and greet for existing readers. About 20 people were there. Then we invited people from the community to come out and hear about the book for the first time using meetup.com, Craigslist, and putting posters up around the hotel. We had 3 new people there and 2 of them continued with us for the workshops into the next day. It was good for the existing readers to hear someone introduce the book to people who have never heard of it.

Throughout the weekend about 40 people came out to enjoy fellowship, connect with old friends, meet new readers, and hear presentations given by readers. Readers who have never presented got a chance to practice. I bet you'll see them at some of the larger conferences in the future. Many participants talked about the ways they are 'stepping up' their participation in the movement. I heard several people talk of starting a new study group. One gal is starting a Bible/UB reading group with another reader. Other ideas included expanded presentations, guided worships, and other interactive workshops. It was very invigorating!

The entire weekend was sponsored by The Outreach Committee and The YaYa Committee. Teuvo Orjala and I coordinated the event. The cost to the participant was nominal ($20 each) since this was a local gathering and most people didn't need to get a room. This helped us recoup some of our expenses for materials, and meeting room space.
This accomplished so much for the local Urantia Community and brought new readers into existing study groups. If you are interested in enlivening your community with a 2 or 3-day mini conference contact Andrea Barnes at andbarnes@gmail.com.
