A Message from our President

The Executive Committee of the Fellowship met in Chicago for our Fall quarterly meeting. The meetings were held in the conference room at headquarters for The URANTIA Foundation, where we were warmly welcomed by Tamara Strumfeld and Mike Wood. On Saturday, we also had lunch, discussion, and dinner with members of the International Service Board of the UAI.

We spent most of our time together working on the 2012 Fellowship budget. It has yet to be finalized, as our dreams are bigger than our available funds. Some of the projects in the queue for 2012 include campus outreach, the launch of the new Youth and Young Adult standing committee, online audio translations, Uversa Press's newest edition of The Urantia Book with standard reference text and the new cover, regional Interfaith conferences, the Pipeline of Light, the Summer Study Session at Techny Towers, the continuation of the RUN project, connections with the emergent Christian movement, and a complete overhaul of our IT systems including the websites, database, and online storefront. An anonymous Fellowship member has offered to donate matching funds for contributions made to the renovation of Foundation headquarters at 533 West Diversey Parkway. The kitchen and bathrooms have been refurbished, but more preservation is needed. UPDATE ON INTERFACING WITH EMERGENT CHRISTIANS 

After 2½ years immersing and educating myself in Emergent culture, I'm being welcomed as family, and as a Urantian.  Being around them is just as fulfilling as being around my Urantian family.  It was especially delightful to be sharing the SOULARIZE experience with Teuvo.  He GOT it!  

Jay is the son of Jim & Tammy Faye Bakker and is currently a Pastor with the Revolution Church

I'm so very grateful to the Outreach committee, especially RUN, for their confidence in me and the financial support that enabled my attendance at the Wild Goose Festival in June along with Paula and Andrea.  That experience, among other gifts, was instrumental in solidifying our relations with Emergent luminary, Doug Pagitt.  David Glass and I took that to a new level at the Emergent Village gathering October 5-7 in New Mexico.  Doug greeted me enthusiastically at SOULARIZE and was delighted to finally receive his own Urantia Book !

At SOULARIZE I was honored to deepen my relationship with religionist-philosopher Peter Rollins, gifting him a book.  I handed out several of my picture-quote cards that say "Of all human knowledge, that which is of most value is to know the religious life of Jesus and how he lived it," receiving positive feedback, including their looking Urantia up on the web.

Darren from Claremont Theological Seminary interviewed me (with notes) around "Why Are YOU Here?" - a stellar opportunity to share The Urantia Book.  He bought one, and left it on the interview table during other interviews.

Teuvo and I were able to make valuable contributions to the Emergent conversation, and he found fertile ground for interacting with the Jesus-loving youth.  These people have much to teach us AND they want to be stretched.  I can't say enough about this salubrious climate for sharing the Fifth Epochal Revelation.  

It is my deepest hope that the Urantia community will continue to support this important work of sharing the gift of revelation with our fellow Christian seekers.

A Cosmic Love Story:  

There is much speculation and mystery about the origin and presence of the Local Universe Mother Spirit. Let us attempt a better understanding of this mysterious being by reviewing her history and origin.

In The Urantia Book, we first discover her as a somewhat "individualized" being securing her pre-personal training on the Havona worlds in close association with the Seven Spirits of the Havona circuits, being trained in methods of interaction with the Creator Son, but as yet, not personalized and all the while subject to the will of the Father. [14:6.29], [162:7], [17:5.2], [202:5]

On the worlds of Havona, her Paradise home, the Daughters of the Spirit glean the mind patterns for all their projected groups of spiritual and material intelligences. And this central universe is the sometime destiny of those creatures whose lives a Universe Mother Spirit jointly fosters in association with the Creator Son of her betrothal, during her cosmic adventure in the realms of the finite. And though she will never again be able to return to the home of her youth, she will find comfort in reflectivity phenomenon, through the Supreme Being in Havona, and Majeston on Paradise, after she has had personality bestowed upon her by the Universal Father. He will collaborate with the Infinite Spirit and the Eternal Son to give to her this greatest of celestial gifts. [14:6.30] (162,8)
