Greetings!

Happy New Year!  Are you looking for a nudge to get you moving in the New Year?  Or for your heart to go pitter patter?  I got mine recently, walking out of the Powell BART stop as a rat ran under my boots.  I squealed and started running up the stairs and more rats ran across the stairs.  I squealed again and for days could feel the flutter and the adrenaline rush from the momentary panic that came from wondering when the rat pack was going to end.

Immerse yourself amongst the "right" pack in 2010, by getting involved with a professional group that will motivate and support your specific business needs.  Enclosed are quotes from a handful of entrepreneurial focused organizations and supportive information links.

Love,

It's a Good Time to be an Entrepreneur because....

"Small business is where business starts.  The people who are going to come out ahead of the game in this market are the people who are creative, glass half full thinkers, who will look at the opportunities at hand and know how to get something going.  The current unemployment rate means that there is a qualified and talented workforce available.  If you're willing to take a chance, grind along to keep things moving and are an out of the box thinker, then you will thrive."
Dennis Conaghan, Executive Director, San Francisco Center for Economic Development,www.sfced.org

"Now's a good time to be an entrepreneur because of the current climate with downsizing, layoffs, and furloughs. If you are a person of color, a woman, or a service disabled vet with a strong business idea in Professional Services, Construction, Food and Beverage, corporations and municipalities have diversity marketing initiatives and/or other added incentives to do business with you."
Richard Ventura, Executive Director, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, San Francisco, www.sfhcc.com

"We are living in the most prosperous time in the history of humanity, and we have a tremendous amount of economic freedom in our country.  Now is a better time than ever to take advantage of this situation."
Sean Burgess, President, BNI Civic Center Chapter http://www.civiccenterbni.com, BNI Bay Area: http://www.bni-sfbay.com

"In a recession everyone is forced to focus on value, and entrepreneurs create value through innovation.  They invent new ways to do more with less, and create jobs in the process.  Entrepreneurs are our best hope for exiting the recession and creating jobs in the economy.
David Hassell, President, the Entrepreneurs' Organization, San Francisco Chapter, www.eonetwork.org

"Smaller companies are more agile. Big corporations are hard to move and change but entrepreneurs can adjust quickly to a changing economy; staying on top of their customers' needs, creating new jobs, and keeping the economy moving."
Dava Guthmiller, Founder, pow.wow, www.powwownetwork.org/

"There's nothing like the present to start a new business that will help people."
Grandpa A.J. Mullally, Business Owner since 1947
MCM Recommends: The "Become a Fearless Entrepreneur Program"
Don't let another year go by without taking a step toward becoming an entrepreneur.

Become a Fearless Entrepreneur is a six-month program for aspiring women entrepreneurs.  If you've been sitting on an idea for months (or even years), this program will give you the structure, the business skills and the connections you need to turn your ideas into a business that could change your life.  This not a dull business planning program - it is a laboratory where you can experiment while being supported by a community of other like-minded women.

The program includes:
Ø Monthly meetings where you can brainstorm and learn about business planning concepts in a simple, fun and engaging environment.
Ø Monthly "Challenges" that will help you "try-on" your business ideas.
Ø Monthly peer group meetings where groups of 4-5 women meet to support you and keep you moving forward.
Ø Access to marketing, legal, and financial experts who will answer your burning questions.
Ø Coaching and Mentoring Program where you will be able to meet one-on-one to get clarity, figure out next steps and stay on track.

Program Details:  The San Francisco program begins on Wednesday, January 20.  The South Bay Program begins January 19.  For more information, please visit http://www.futurewomenleaders.net/entrepreneurship-program

This program is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Wells Fargo, Future Women Leaders (a 501c3 organization), and is taught by Starla Sireno of Fearlessness Inc.
