The Power of Women in Engineering
| |
On December 1, Michele Stuart, President of Efficiency Engineers, visited WorleyParsons, one of the largest global engineering companies in the world, to present The Power of Women in Engineering. She met with over forty women to explain the past, present and future, in the male dominated industry, of engineering. In addition to explaining her own path to engineering, Michele described the rough road to achievement for the First Lady of Engineering, Lillian Gilbreth, who raised twelve children while earning her PhD. In conclusion, she left the group of women with words of wisdom to help them plan the upcoming New Year and the years that follow.
"What ever you can do,
Or dream you can,
Begin it,
Boldness has genius,
Power, and magic in it."
--Goethe--
Michele looks forward to doing similar presentations in the future and hopes more women will join her in her beloved field.

Healthcare Expansion
| |
The scope of work at Efficiency Engineers continues to expand. In the Healthcare arena, not only have optimization opportunities grown at Geisinger Medical Center, but contacts have been made with several other major hospital systems: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Holy Redeemer Hospital, and the Mayo Clinic. Optimization projects under discussion include pneumatic tube systems, internal supply chai n & logistics, as well as operational areas such as operating room scheduling and bed turnover. In addition, we continue to expand our manufacturing initiatives, preventative maintenance design and routing improvements have been the focus this quarter.
