Kaifeng 2011 #2Greetings!

I want to share with you these recent photos, showing that the students in Kaifeng continue to mature and progress through the support of all involved.  Please also enjoy a letter, below, sent to us from the orphanage director, Mr. Wang.

We are nearly ready to begin our second school in the Henan region. It will be located in the city of XuChang.  Our board would like to have five more students sponsored before we officially launch this school.  Please consider sponsoring a student for $25 a month or a one time annual donation of $300.  All contributions are 100% tax deductible.

Thank you for being a part of something that is changing the status of special needs orphans in China. We have created a recent video highlighting our expectations for this coming year. 2011 EChO Video  We have also updated the home page to our web site EChO Website

Letter from Mr. Wang and our Kaifeng School:

Dearest members of EChO:

Hello!

Since we establish friendly relationship of cooperation from 2009, many kids with special needs have got very big help under the support of EChO. For that we are very grateful. Here are the present states of the children who get remarkably successful results after the rehabilitation and have been adopted by American families.

Dang Xindan, who was born on March 19th in 2001, suffers from CP. In the beginning, the girl cannot walk or speak, and unable to care for herself. Supported by EChO, Xindan has been treated in a systematic and regular way. And after the rehabilitation, Xindan can not only stand, walk, put on and turn off clothes by herself, but also learn to say "Papa", "Mama", "Ayi". In addition, Xindan has been more active than before and greet to others forwardly, even communicate with simple sentences. In 2010, Dang Xindan has been adopted by a kind American family.

Guo Hou, a boy suffers from Postoperative Meningocele, Paralysis of lower limbs and fecal and urine incontinence. Though he has been 7 at that time, he still cannot be able to care for himself. As same as Xindan, supported by EChO, Guo Hou has been treated in a systematic and regular way. Now he has been able to put on and turn off clothes, ask for help when he wants to go to the toilet, communicate with simple sentences, count from 1 to 20, write simple Chinese character like "人(person""大(big""上(up"know "aoeiu" and some other Chinese Pinyin, even identify different colors and simple figures. In 2009, Guo Hou has been adopted by an American family, too.

Guo Zhiwei,a 2-years-old boy, suffers from congenital imperforation anus. With the help of EChO, Zhiwei took part in the project after operation. And learnt to stand, walk, count, identify different colors and figures, communicate with other, even learnt to say "Hello""Bye-bye" in English. In 2010, Zhiwei also has been a member of an American family.

In addition to these kids, Dang Jingru, Guo Chengwu, Guo Chenxuan and many other children also have had various degrees of improvement with EChO's help, and will have their own family, start a new life in a distant country.

We plan to publish a book named Moving Stories of A Hundred Children of Kaifeng Welfare Institute. The children who have been helped by EChO and their lives stories will be written into the book to express our gratitude. This book will be distribute throughout the country and hand out to foundations, enterprises and individuals, to make all social sectors to know more about our welfare institute. Consequently to get more help for the kids.

Supported by EChO, the children with special needs in Kaifeng Welfare Institute get a great deal of help. Hope in the future, we can continue to maintain friendly cooperative relationship, and make more children a better life.

Sincerely,

Mr. Wang - Director
