February will be an exciting month in the life of EChO.  As you can read in the articles to follow, we are holding our largest fundraising event of the year on February 20, our Chinese New Year Party.  Locals, or those in Bend, Oregon for the weekend, won't want to miss this great opportunity to catch up on the work EChO is doing.  Also mentioned in this newsletter is the new opportunity to sponsor an orphan in EChO's first school in China.  What a great way to participate in the education and life of one of these precious children.  Thanks again for your interest in EChO, and considering how you might partner with us.

Party With a Purpose: 
February 20 - Chinese New Year Event
February 20 is a headline date in the EChO calendar for 2010.  The Chinese New Year Event will begin at 4:00 pm at the downtown Bend Boys and Girls Club.  Come celebrate this important cultural holiday, and learn more about orphans for whom EChO is providing an education and hope for the future.

The event will feature a locally catered dinner, thanks to Bend's own China Doll restaurant.  A children's dance team will be featured along with three local bands performing live throughout the evening.  Along with dinner and entertainment, kids can enjoy crafts while adults browse and bid on items up for sale in our silent auction.  If luck is with you this Chinese New Year, you may just walk away with one of the door prizes being given away.

Cost for this event is $12.00 for adults, $8.00 for students, and $35.00 for families of six and fewer.  That price does include dinner.  Drinks will be available for purchase as well.  All proceeds will go to supporting the education of EChO students.

Sponsor an EChO Orphan

We are excited to introduce a new way in which you may support EChO and partner in this important work.  Just $25 per month will sponsor the education of an individual orphan in EChO's Kaifeng school.  This money will fund teaching salaries and assist in equipment purchases in this school. 

Each of the 31 students in our first school for special needs students in Kaifeng have a special and unique story.  Sponsors will receive a photo, biography and updates on their student throughout the year.  Perhaps the children in your own home would benefit from being able to participate in this personal giving relationship with an orphan in China.

Please consider sponsoring the education of an EChO orphan in Kaifeng.  Your contribution will allow one special child to receive an education that will provide opportunity and access for a lifetime.
EChO is making a difference in the lives of Chinese orphans.  Please consider a monthly gift of $25 or more.  These monthly gifts are particularly useful as EChO's most immediate need is for the funding to pay the salary of two more teachers in the school in Kaifeng in addition to the two teachers already being funded through EChO.  Your gift is tax deductible, and will help us provide education to those who would otherwise go without.
