We're Living Up to Our Name - and
Change is in the Air!
|
WWFC has always advocated
change, and we're certainly living up to our mission and our name. We continue to envision and shape the future
as one single not-for-profit organization, empowering individuals to develop their
voices and celebrate their stories. WHAT'S NEW... Interest is high for our
Fall Workshop Series for teens - a collaboration with the True Body Project beginning Sept. 26. The Girls Writing
Together Mini-Semester begins October 17.
We continue to respond to
the struggling economy, by trimming tuition and offering a 10-week Fall
Semester, an 8-week Mastery Class, and some new co-ed offerings. Saturday
Afternoon Workshops include The Body Journal (Oct. 23), Writing Your Blog (Nov.
6), and Food for Thought (Dec. 11). Other brand-new offerings
to fit your budget and busy schedule: a 3-week series, A Taste of Writing
in Community; and two 5-week offerings: Taming the Hurried Life (yoga
& writing); and Words and Watercolors (art & writing). A new
series called Timely Topics will highlight The Writing Life, and Stages in a
Woman's Life - dates & times to be announced. Finally, join us for our
second Re(ad)Union on Sept. 25th from 10 am to 12:30pm. Or drop in and
bring a new friend to Second Friday Nights in Sept, Oct. and Nov. Themes
and topics are still being developed! CATCHING UP WITH WWFC... In January 2010, Mary Pierce Brosmer, founder of Women
Writing for Mary Pierce Brosmer and Shepard Fairey
 | (a) Change, stepped back from holding the center of decision-making and ownership of WWFC, the school, in order to further her vision of creative
transformation through the art of writing. Mary continues to be a part of WWFC's vision - the fuller expression of
the conscious feminine in the world - through her Consulting for Change practice and in the promotion of her book, Women Writing for a Change: A Guide for Creative Transformation.
WWFC Staff, Faculty,
Board Members, Podcast Circle and volunteers are set to take WWFC
forward. We thought you'd be interested in how we're doing, mid-way
through 2010. Summer Classes for women
and girls brought many new faces to our campus. Young Women's Summer Camps
featured our visiting artist, Katherine Meyer, and the girls have produced
wonderful pieces of art and writing. Thanks to grants from the Fine Arts Fund and the Ohio Arts Council, we
were able to provide scholarships for 15 girls this summer.
Stay tuned... get
involved! You'll find some other surprises at our website. And thank
you for being a part of Women Writing for (a) Change's bright future.
