The Silenced Voice
|
|
 Wednesday, May 5 7:00-9:30 PM
Hear the story of Sr. Louise Akers, a local sister of Charity who has
been silenced by the Catholic Church and how she is speaking louder than
ever before.
We'll talk about healthy responses to counter being silenced in all
types of settings-in our homes, workplaces, and the larger world.
We'll also do some writing together around the areas that we are being
called to speak up about.
Come to be inspired and uplifted by Sr. Louise's story and to be
energized for the challenging work of speaking up when silence is no
longer an option!
All are welcome!
$10 Donation encouraged Call 272-1171 to RSVP. |

| A Thousand Years of Healing
From whence my hope, I cannot say, except
it grows in the cells of my skin, in my envelope of mysteries it
hums. In this sheath so akin to the surface of the earth it
whispers. Beneath the wail and dissonance in the world, hope's
song grows. Until I know that with this turning we put a broken
age to rest. We who are alive at such a cusp now usher in one thousand years of healing! Winged ones and four-leggeds, grasses and mountains and each tree, all the swimming creatures, even we, wary two-leggeds hum, and call, and create the
Changing Song. We remake all our relations. We convert our minds
to the earth. In this turning time we finally learn to chime and
blend, attune our voices; sing the vision of the Great Magic we
move within. We begin the new habit, getting up glad for a
thousand years of healing. ~ Susa Silvermarie
------------------
1. Recently we celebrated Earth Day. How has your relationship with the Earth changed over the years? What is it like now?
2. Make a list of what gives you hope, or what you can remember giving you hope over the years. Can you fashion that into a poem?
3. Do you believe that we are putting a broken age to rest? Write an obituary to the broken age or a birth announcement for the next one.
4. Mother's Day is coming up. What are your feelings, memories and stories as we approach the day? Remember our Mother Daughter workshop coming on on May 8.
