We are nearing the end of our ANNUAL APPEAL, just $6,000 short of our $20,000 goal! Can you please help us reach it? We are grateful to the many loyal supporters - and beneficiaries - of Women Writing for (a) Change who have contributed. Please join them and put us over the top!
The gift you make to this year's appeal, no matter how large or small, will continue the momentum the Foundation needs to broaden our outreach circle and increase our scholarship assistance. Our goal is that more women, girls - and men - can participate in our writing, leadership and outreach programs, so that they can experience the life-changing community fostered at Women Writing for (a) Change.
Here, in the words of a teen from our 2009 Summer Writing Camp, is a fitting testimonial: "I was able to open up and show my true, honest, real self. I haven't done that at school in nine years." Every day we witness this transformation and empowerment.
You may not know that our Outreach Program has touched the lives of hundreds of girls and teens - and their families - affected by homelessness, through our in-school writing circles.
And while we're talking "numbers," here are a few that show how WWfaC is making a difference in the community:
7,500 - Individuals who've registered for classes, retreats, workshops & samplers since 1991
1,152 - Homeless individuals who've attended WWfaC writing circles since 2006
150 - Adults & young women awarded scholarships since 2002
$64,000 - Scholarship dollars awarded to young women and adults since 2002
13 - States where WWfaC classes or workshops are being offered
Our writing circles for young girls at after-school programs around the Greater Cincinnati area, and our Community Partnerships with the YWCA, Wellness Center, Adult Down Syndrome Center, and Women's Connection Center, to name a few, bring healing and transformation to a diverse community. Our Podcast Program - the ultimate outreach - sends the words of women and girls not only across the nation but around the globe.
Your generosity has made this possible. But we want to do so much more!
There is no doubt that what we do at WWfaC improves the quality of life for girls and women - and their families - in Greater Cincinnati, by strengthening their authentic voices, developing their ability to express themselves through writing and speaking, and by deepening their belief in their own creative intelligence.
