Prosperity Campaign Free Tax Prep Season Launch

Join Catalyst Miami in launching this year's free tax preparation season. The Prosperity Campaign connects low-wage workers to existing economic benefits programs such as the Earned Income Tax Credit. It also seeks to provide individuals and families with benefits such as health insurance, food stamps (SNAP) and financial literacy programs that will help them improve their standard of living.

VITA Tax-Prep & EITC Kick-Off

Friday, January 28th, 2011

10 A.M - 12 Noon

Catalyst Miami
1900 Biscayne Blvd, Ste 200,  Miami, FL 33132

The Prosperity Campaign, working with a network of Prosperity Centers, assisted over 14,000 families since 2003 to obtain almost $15 million in refunds, generating an economic impact of over $60 million. Employers can join this win-win-win effort by sharing this program with your employees; EITC means more money in employees pockets and more money in the local economy.

PLTI Alumni Success Stories

Our PLTI alumni go on to do great things after graduation. Lorrie Belovich has successfully campaigned for and orchestrated the Miami screening of the educational reform film Race To Nowhere, which has become a grassroots sensation with parents concerned about the high stress nature of our current educational model. Sunrise School of Miami, in partnership with many supporting organizations, is screening the incredible film "Race to Nowhere" followed by a panel discussion with local experts moderated by David Lawrence Jr (former publisher of the Miami Herald and Founder of The Children's Trust) Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 6:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at the Coral Gables Congregational Church.

Catalyst Miami provides Advocacy Corps Trainings designed to enhance the resources and tools community members and partners need to become skilled advocates around local and statewide issues. Each workshop focuses on one key advocacy and policy strategy.  Topics include tax and budget, education, and healthcare access. Strategies include letters to the editor, public speaking, and building coalitions. We can also design an Advocacy Corps Training specific to your community's needs.
