Allegany Franciscan Ministries Announces Availability of 2010 Major Grant Funding for Miami-Dade

Miami, Florida - Allegany Franciscan Ministries, Inc. today announced the availability of 2010 major grant funding opportunities for nonprofit organizations serving underserved and economically poor populations in Miami-Dade.

Organizations working to increase access and improve quality of health and wellness services, promote social justice, or develop local solutions to environmental issues in Miami-Dade are invited to apply.  Allegany Franciscan Ministries defines health from a broad perspective that includes physical, social, mental, spiritual, environmental and cultural health for individuals and communities.
The organization anticipates making up to six major grants in Miami-Dade with each grant award expected to range from $25,000 to $50,000 for a one or two year time period.   Of particular interest are organizations that utilize partnerships and collaborative strategies, involve diverse community partners such as communities of faith and the private sector, and fully engage the persons they serve in all program planning and implementation.
To be considered, organizations submit a pre-application by 12 noon on March 5, 2010.  The pre-application form and instructions can be obtained on Allegany Franciscan Ministries' Web site at www.afmfl.org.

"We are hopeful that with our funding, a few nonprofit organizations will be able to make a positive impact on the lives of our most vulnerable populations and create a healthier Miami-Dade community," said Allegany Franciscan Ministries Vice President Miguel Milanes.
