Database launched for Haiti relief information A collaborative database, which hosts resources and information for the benefit of the Haitian community in Miami and those serving the Haitian community in Miami, is being developed by the creators of Crisis Camp. Through this database, agencies can report services they are offering and individuals can search for donation or volunteering opportunities. Healthcare, mental health, emergency assistance, housing, immigration, food and community events will be addressed in the database. To get involved: enter information about services your organization is providing, invite others to enter their data or volunteer to enter data others have submitted.   University of Miami compiling resources, offering TPS assistance   University of Miami School of Medicine will compile, print and distribute a guide to services available to displaced Haitians within the coming weeks. Please send information, particularly about service providers fluent in Kreyol, to Erin Kobetz. Attorneys and law students will be providing free assistance with applications for Temporary Protected Status (available to people in the U.S. as of January 12). Please contact attorney Juan Gomez if your agency, group, business, church or temple is providing free assistance to Haitians to prepare and submit Temporary Protected Status applications. Also, let him know if you know of any other providers. Please send the name of the provider, as well as the dates, times and locations where assistance is being offered. Public Allies continue medical supply, food drive February 6 Public Allies Miami will be collecting non-perishable goods and medical supplies to send to Haiti, as well as Haitian food for displaced families in Miami, on February 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Chase Bank parking lot, 900 NE 125 St., North Miami, 33161. Some of the items they are looking for include: rice, dried beans, canned sardines, tomato paste, garlic and vegetable or corn oil. Contact Lori Deus for more information. Reminder: RSVP for Census forum to make sure we all count Human Services Coalition and Health Council of South Florida will host the forum, "We All Count," February 5 from 10 a.m. to noon to discuss ways community organizations can reach out to hard-to-count populations during Census 2010. Census data is used to allocate federal funding to education, transportation and other critical needs programs. It is vital that we prevent an undercount in 2010.
