Greetings!
It's spring! If you're like me, spring is always welcome after a winter full of cold and ice. When the weather starts breaking, one of the first things I do is take strolls around my house, poking at the ground and pots, and searching for shoots and buds and the beginnings of plant life. I was traveling a bit this spring, so was a little remiss in my strolling, but several days ago I was delighted to find all kinds of wonderful color coming to life around the house. I've posted some pictures here on my Facebook page. Feel free to take a peek whenever you are that way! Happy spring, everyone. And enjoy this latest newsletter. All my best, Maddie |
The Legend of Blackbeard's Chalice
The Jolly Roger. A universal symbol of piracy.
This
is the Jolly Roger supposedly flown by the legendary Blackbeard aka Sir
Edward Teach, among other names.
Teach wreaked chaos
over the eastern coastal waters of America in the years around
1712-1718. He made several homes in the inlets and on the barrier
islands of the Carolinas as well as in the islands of the Carribean. He
stole, he plundered, he killed and kidnapped, and he showed no mercy.
And Sir Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, is a central character (living and dead) in my series called The Legend of Blackbeard's Chalice.
This weekend, I'm heading off to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to do research on book four in the series, titled Wanderlust. I plan to document my adventures on my Life, Unedited blog. I hope you will join me.
In the meantime, you may be interested in reading more about The Legend of Blackbeard's Chalice.

Falling for Grace
Some of you may remember that I published six books for Kensington Books back in the late 90s. I'm really pleased to let you know that all six of those titles are now going to be re-released by Turquoise Morning Press! I'm so pleased to be able to share these books with my readers again. Falling for Grace is the first release. I'll be sure and let you know when the others will be available. Here is a little bit about Gracie Hart and her story. Blurb:She wasn't looking for love... The owner of a successful, sophisticated boutique called Romantically Yours, Gracie Hart's nickname is the Diva of Romance. Who could have guessed that having once loved and lost, she has no intention of ever falling in love again, no matter how loudly her biological clock keeps ticking? Until, that is, her new tenants, Carson Price and his six-year-old daughter Izzie, arrive on the scene and proceed to wreak havoc in her life--and her heart! ...but it found her anyway! Review: ...heartwarming and tender, this novel will brighten many dreary afternoons in small town America. James shows special talent for traditional romance. Expect more from this author. Affaire de Coeur, 4 stars Read more...Now available on Amazon Kindle. Coming soon in print.

From Life, Unedited: Without Boundaries
I'm a writer. There is no doubt in that fact. Not a day that goes by
that I do not lay a few words down on a page of some sort, whether it's a
blog post, an article, a tweet or a status update. Whether it be a
paragraph, thought, a desire, a snippet...it's prose.
I'm
a writer.
I'm also a huge American Idol fan. Music was my
second creative love. Art was my first. Surprisingly, writing was my
third. Go figure it's the one that might possibly bring the most
success. Possibly.
As the guest artist on American Idol
this week, Jamie Foxx was
billed as having a career without boundaries. Now, in order to put this
in perspective, picture me just waking from a nap on the couch, feeling
pretty darned groggy, my eyelids sticky and trying to open, my brain
attempting some sort of coherence. The show's theme song rips across the
living room and then I hear some stuff (must have drifted back to sleep
a sec) and somewhere in there I hear the words "career without
boundaries."
I wake straight up.
