Help us continue to sponsor the Day of Silence and fight dangerous right-wing bigotry!
GLSEN Connecticut needs your help to protect our students today!

As schools and students
nationwide prepare for this Friday's National Day of Silence, we'd like to call your attention to a counter-event that has
been
designed to validate the very harmful attitudes that Day of Silence
exists to
change.
It's called "Day of Truth," and it's happening this Thursday in
thousands of
schools. Sponsored by the discredited right wing "conversion"
organization
Exodus International, Day of Truth seeks to trivialize and denigrate
GLSEN's
mission and supporters, calling Day of Silence nothing more than a
"one-sided
promotion of homosexuality."
Help us push back against these statements of religious-based bigotry by making a gift to GLSEN Connecticut today.
Exodus is determined to undermine equality by attacking us and
distorting our
goals. They claim we exploit the issue of school safety as a "political
arm-twisting tool" in order to enforce a devious, sexualized agenda.
But the fact remains:
There is nothing political
or "one-sided" about protecting LGBT and other students from relentless
bullying, harassment, Facebook and text message attack campaigns, social
ostracism and the other harmful and soul-crushing behaviors that are
rampant in
school populations.
Day of Silence is all about making that case, and empowering students to
lead
the way in taking direct action against bullying and harassment. Day of
Truth,
on the other hand, simply wants to demonize the LGBT community, sweep
bullying
under the rug and make excuses for the very people who engage in it.
Fight back by making a special contribution to GLSEN Connecticut and Day of Silence right now!
A gift of $50 will provide a full set of Day of Silence supplies for one Gay-Straight Alliance.
$20 delivers a comprehensive Safe Space Kit for an entire school, which will help to recruit and identify faculty allies
and create in-school safe-havens where LGBT and other students facing
bullying
and harassment can always turn.
Your gift of any amount will help make a difference. Send your donation to GLSEN Connecticut in honor of Day of Silence today.Thank
you for your continued support and commitment.
Peace,
Leif Mitchell and Liane Roseman GLSEN Connecticut Co-Chairs
P.S. It is with your help that GLSEN is able to organize powerful events
like
Day of Silence. The fact that anti-gay organizations like Exodus feel
compelled
to organize a competing event as cynical and manipulative as Day of
Truth is
proof that we are making a difference. Please help us to make this
Friday's Day
of Silence our most successful and climate-changing event ever. Make a generous contribution now.
