WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING | |
about our new book & DVD:
| Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt |
We are so excited to be receiving emails like this one, that came in earlier this week:
"I cannot believe it! I just ordered the "Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt" book and DVD a couple of days ago. I received it yesterday and read the book and watched the DVD in one day. I tried a few paper patterns and knew I was getting close to what I wanted. I woke up this morning, looked through the pictures in the book again, and found the solution to my design. I sat down and cut it out in less than 5 minutes! Now I have the pattern to the exact quilt I've always wanted. I never thought this was possible - or that I could do this! I am so excited to make this for my husband! Thank you Pacific Rim Quilt Company!"
-- from a happy quilter in Lacey, Washington.

Send us your photos
If you have photos of quilts you have made from our patterns that you have not sent to us, please do send them. We want to add them to the photo Galleries on our website! Janice will be adding photos to our on-line Galleries in July and August, and we want to include yours!
We will be starting a new Gallery for the quilts you are designing with the help of our new book and DVD (Design Your Personal Hawaiian Quilt) - so send us photos of your paper cut-outs, or your basted applique top so we can show those off, too!
Seeing quilts done in different color combinations, set in different ways, or uniquely embellished are great inspiration to others.
Mahalo for sharing your photos.

Greetings!
Last month we told you we would not be shipping orders for about a week at the beginning of July, but we were a bit obscure about the reason. The photo above shows the

reason. Nancy's daughter was married on Kaua'i on July 4. The whole family was there, so no one was left behind to ship orders. What a delightful week we all had.
We have been back over a week now, and while our To Do lists are still longer than our Ta Dah lists, we have missed talking with you. We will be brief this month, because there is a lot planned for next month's newsletter, and we need time to get it all ready.
Remember to visit with Nancy and shop in our booth at one, or more, of these three quilt shows on the beautiful Pacific coast in August and September:
- August 3 & 4 in Newport, Oregon
- August 18 & 19 in Crescent City, California
- Sept 15 & 16 in Gold Beach, Oregon
E komo mai,
Welcome,
Nancy & Janice |
BIRD OF PARADISE - 2 Fabric Applique Quilt
Not a bird, a flower!
I must have hundreds of photographs of tropical flowers, maybe thousands. Each time I return to Hawaii I tell my self "Enough! I don't need one more picture of a tropical flower." But, I can't stop myself. I see these beautiful flowers, and have to bring their pictures home with me. Such was the case on this recent trip to Hawaii. This Bird of Paradise posed so graciously, I had to take its picture.
The Bird of Paradise flower resembles the head of a bird, giving this unusual flower it's name. But, one reason I like this photo is that it shows the details of the veins in the broad, paddle-like leaves. This should give you a good idea for how to quilt the inside of the leaves on your quilt.
To celebrate our recent trip, we offer our Bird of Paradise 2 Fabric Applique Quilt pattern as the current Internet Special.
Bird of Paradise: 24" x 36". Normally, $12.00, for a limited time this pattern is available for just $10.00. Buy It Now.
Make your quilt from bold colors to remind you of a tropical paradise. Choose from any of our 2FAQ Fabric Packs to make your quilt fit your decor. Click here to choose your fabric.
See dramatic variations of this pattern in the 2FAQ Gallery on our website. Scroll down the page to find the Bird of Paradise photos. You will be amazed. |
TROPICAL FLORAL - Hawaiian block patterns
Six in one
See the Bird of Paradise in this quilt? It is the purple block in the lower right corner.
Block sets are wonderfully versatile. Use all six blocks to make a rectangular wall hanging, or lap quilt; add more blocks or borders for a large quilt; use individual blocks for placemats, tote bags, or on garments; add sashing between the blocks, or leave it off; three blocks make a table runner. Wow, the possibilities are endless!
TIP: When using multiple colors for your applique blocks, choose colors of similar value for the best look. If you mix pastels with darker colors the overall look may appear unbalanced, as the lighter colors will recede.
Tropical Floral: six 21" blocks, $12.00. Buy It Now
For more examples of quilts using multiple blocks visit the Hawaiian Quilt Gallery on our website.
