Flood Relief
Help needed! Did you know there are still people in Antioch who are living without electricity, without air conditioning, in mold and mildew? Can you help a family recover from flood damage? Can you help someone put their life back together?
Volunteers are needed in construction, administration, case management, etc. each day Tuesday through Saturday - specifically on week nights and on the weekends when residents are at home to help. If you can help, click here to contact Melissa Thomas.
Help is also needed in food preparation! From Liz Minor: We have shifts available from 9:30 -11:30 which consist of mainly cooking the meal and doing the dishes. We have shifts from 11:30 -1:30 which consist of serving the food Then we have a shift from 1:30 -2:30 cleaning up and ice down cooler and fill with drinks. If we could get another person who would be willing to work a 9:30 -1:30 who could be a take charge kind of person to make sure things get done and maybe help figure out the meal depending on what food God provides that would help give the charge person a day off. We have been cooking for about 2 months now and we can use more recruits. Please talk to your home groups, brainstorm and see how you can get plugged in. WE NEED YOU! Please! Please! Please look at your schedules and see where you can work a hour or two, you will be blessed more than you will know. Please, folks still do not have electricity and we are taking meals cold water and ice out to Country Meadows. We could use help just bagging ice for 30 minutes to hour to help us get ahead . We need your help, these children need our love and need fed. We went out today and ran out of food and children came to us and said they were hungry and wanted cold water. We went back to cafeteria and gathered what we could to take, seven more plates to Margareta the grandmother and her 6 grand kids living in a trailer with no electricity and 105 degree trailer!! Please if you cant give some of your time Please consider sending in a gift card to a grocery store or making a casserole that we could serve. There is a place for everyone to get involved. If you cant work in the heat we can plug you in somewhere making phone calls from the disaster relief center. Thank you for taking time to read this urgent plea. If you can help in the kitchen, click here to contact Liz Minor. |
