"We need a culture of daily and mutual discipleship ... It requires the sharing of lives and gospel intentionality.  We need to accept that God's lordship extends over every area of our lives.  This means there is no act so mundane that it lies outside the scope of the gospel."
Total Church, page 122

Prayer Requests

Terry Hill, a member of John and Beth Laurie's life group, is leaving next month to prepare for his deployment to Iraq in February.  His unit will be training in Mississippi for the next couple months.

Please keep us informed about your life group by letting us know about any needs and prayer requests for your life group.
Dear Life Group Leaders, Apprentice Leaders, and Coaches,

As you know, the Life Group Ministry team at LCF is now sending out monthly newsletters to help you as you lead your life group!  Newsletters will contain reminders about upcoming events, training articles, and more.  Please take time each month to read through the newsletter.  We hope that it serves to help you lead your life group even more effectively!  Thank you!

Feature Story:  Meet Mike and Kim McKaig!
Each month in our newsletter, we will be giving you the opportunity to learn more about one or two of our life group leaders here at LCF!

About Mike and Kim:  Mike McKaig is a 6th grade science teacher at Heritage Middle School in Thompson Station.  Kim McKaig is a stay at home mom of 4 children (Olivia, Genevieve, Moses, and Vivan).  She  homeschools her 2 oldest daughters.  They describe themselves as a fun, adventurous, and relaxed family.  They love the Lord and they love people.  They enjoy the outdoors, family date nights on Saturdays, watching movies, reading books, and playing games together.  Mike enjoys team sports and watching documentaries.  Kim enjoys working out at the gym, taking long walks, reading, and discussing what she's learning with others.  Olivia is 8 years old and loves animals, the outdoors, and running.  Genevieve is 5 years old and loves animals, playing with her brother and sisters, and running.  Moses is 2 and loves cars, trains, balls, and keeping up with his big sisters.  Vivian, who is four months old, loves her family and is a mama's girl.  She doesn't run yet.
What they enjoy about leading a life group:  As they lead their life group, Mike and Kim enjoy seeing people experience freedom with Christ in their lives and witnessing people forgiving, overcoming, healing, and maturing in their faith.  Seeing people grow in the Lord is their greatest joy.
Encouragement for other life group leaders:  "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
Favorite Bible verses:
Mike:  Philipians 1:21 " For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
Kim:  Ephesians 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

Mike and Kim's life group has recently multiplied.  Look below for an article about the methods they used for this group multiplication.
Vision
Life Group Vision Handout Image SmallVision:  We believe that God's vision for the life group ministry here at LCF is to spread the gospel in the greater Nashville area.
Strategy:
In order to see this vision become reality, life groups must reach out to their surrounding communities.  As a result of reaching out, life groups will grow and multiply.  Our goal is to go from the current total of 21 life groups to a total of 40 life groups in 2010.
Action Steps:  How will your group help make this vision a reality?  You need a plan!  To develop your group's plan:
  1. Each life group leader should discuss the vision and strategy with their life group members and decide on specific action steps they will take as a group to accomplish the goal.
  2. Then, each member of the group should plan specific action steps for himself or herself to help the group accomplish the goal.
Some examples of action steps are hosting a neighborhood block party, inviting people in your neighborhood to a men's or women's movie or game night, having dinner with your neighbors, etc.
Don't forget to make this discussion a priority in your life group meeting!

New Study Guides for our Reality Sermon Series
touching the skyThe Life Group Ministry Team has recently developed the second part of the leaders' study guide for our current sermon series, Reality: Genuine Life in an Artificial World.  You should have received this study guide on Sunday morning.  The questions will also be posted on the LCF website.  We have included some new features in this study guide, including guidelines for using the guide in your groups and additional resources for each topic discussed.  Please continue to discuss the provided study questions in your life group meetings each week.  Thank you!

Please reply to this email if you do not have a copy of the Leaders' Study Guide and we will get you one as soon as possible.
Leader Training: Total Church Video-- Please watch!

Total Church Book CoverAs you know, for our current leadership training, the life group leaders, apprentice leaders, and coaches are reading the book Total Church.  We will be discussing the last six chapters in our leadership training session in December.
In addition to reading the book, over the next few months we would also like for all life group leadership to watch three video sessions on the book.  The sessions are taught by one of the authors.  For this month, please watch Total Church Training-- Session 2.  These videos should serve to reinforce and enhance what you are learning in the book.
Life Group Leader Role Description
We are currently working on developing a detailed description for each of the leadership roles in our life groups ministry.    We hope that these descriptions will help clarify every person's role and responsibilities and give each person a clearer focus as they serve the Lord in this way.

At this time, we are specifically looking at the role of life group leader.  In order to develop a well-defined role description, we need your input!  Please email us to let us know what you think should be included in the role description for life group leader.  Thank you!
The Story of One Life Group's Multiplication

Mike and Kim McKaig's life group recently multiplied.  This multiplication resulted in two groups-- one led by the McKaigs and the other led by David and Rebekah Kaufmann.  As all life group leaders are looking towards multiplying their groups, we have asked Mike and Kim to share how their group multiplied and what they learned from the process.  Even if you feel that your group is a long way from being ready to multiply, please take a few minutes to read this article online.  It is important that all leaders consider how they would multiply their groups before they actually begin the multiplication process.  Thank you for being proactive in this important process!

New Life Group at LCF!
