A Recap Of The 5th International Encaustic Conference

Demo Image

Earlier this month, Mike and Kathryn made the trip to Provincetown, MA  where they attended the 5th International Encaustic Conference.   The unique 3-day conference attracts encaustic artists and manufacturers from all over the world.   This year, over 250 guests registered for the conference.  Artists had the opportunity to attend talks and panels, participate in discussions, watch painting demonstrations, view encaustic exhibits, and of course, attend workshops. Artists networked with each other and learned more about the various encaustic products on the market by meeting the manufacturers themselves.

Mike and Kathryn were at the Enkaustikos vendor booth all weekend and had the chance to speak with  artists.  It was a great opportunity to introduce the new Hot Sticks line since they just debuted in stores last April. Overall, artists truly embraced the new Hot Sticks and expressed how much they liked the versatility, size, and shape.  It was great to see such a positive response and of course, to see so many artists taking Hot Sticks home with them!

We also found that many encaustic artists are experimenting with printmaking!  During the conference, there was a  3 hour "Monoprinting Marathon" workshop put on by 3 instructors.  Our Hot Sticks were evePrintn featured during the workshop and afterwards, artists came by the booth to stock up on supplies.  The artists loved the concept of our new anodized aluminum plates and how easy they make encaustic monoprinting.  By the end of the weekend, we had sold out of all of our plate sizes!  After seeing such a overwhelming response, we have decided to start offering additional plate sizes as well and will be introducing those to stores shortly.  To learn more about our anodized aluminum plates, click here!

Next year's conference will take place June 1-3, 2012.  We hope we are invited back as it was a great experience for us as manufacturers and we loved talking to artists.  Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth!  Please visit the official website to learn more about this popular conference.
