Finished Production On A Retail Loop!
Be on the lookout next time you enter a store that carries Hot Cakes...you may see us on video!  We recently filmed and produced our own Hot Cakes Retail Loop that select retailers will be playing in their stores to help educate customers about Hot Cakes.  On the video, you can see our encaustic specialist, Kathryn talk about how to properly use Hot Cakes, what supplies are needed to work in encaustic, and also she demos some common encaustic techniques. So next time, you shop for Hot Cakes see if you can catch a glimpse of our video on one of the store's TVs or monitors.  Not all stores will have it, but if they do be sure to take a moment and watch some of it!

Ideal Substrates For Encaustic...
substratesSubstrates that are suitable for encaustic painting should be absorbent and rigid!  Some great substrates include wood panels, masonite, museum board , and 300 lb watercolor paper.  If you work in thin layers, even lighter watercolor and printmaking papers can work well.  So keep in mind, your substrates should be absorbent and rigid if you plan to work in wax paint.
